Yes, I know I'm behind. It was on one of the ITV channels last night so I watched it.

Mostly harmless, I think. One or two nice homage to other films, but on the whole simply a brainless way to spend a pleasant hour and a half or so. Impressive animation.

Pure Hell of St. Trinian's and The Great St. Trinian's Train Robbery

I realised it'd been far too long since I'd last watched these films when I couldn't remember a thing about the plot of PHoST. I did remember the plot of TGSTTR but that's probably because, this being a colour film, it gets shown on television more often.

Another black and white classic, although certainly weaker than the first film it's still quite enjoyable. It's such fun to see Terry Thomas playing a cad!

One thing the film does have going for it though is the St. Trinians School Song. All together now ladies:

What a classic! There's this little part of me that rather likes the idea of holding an SCA Feast of St. Trinian... but fortunately for the insurance policy most of me is a little more sensible than that. :)

That's the recent version with Gabriel Byrne and Jeremy Irons. Oh yes, rather fun - apart from John Malkovich, whose accent was so out of place that it was painful. What a marvellous historical drama this film is! Of course everything technical that I could say has already been said, but I still find the zero-gee sections filmed on the vomit comet impressive and think that it should have won the best picture Oscar ( Read more... )
