Glad you're reasonably okay, hope your back will be ok in a week...
That's a horrifically dangerous segment of freeway. All my near-death experiences on the roads here have happened in that interchange, though I'm usually going through on 405. And it's always because of traffic backing up to a standstill on 167N->405S and 405S->167N at Rainier Avenue.
It did get better for while after they modified the 167N->405S ramp to be a flyover, but it's a temporary solution and the area just got screwed out of the money for the real fix. I'm waiting for the "Watch For Stopped Traffic" signs signifying that DOT gave up.
And FWIW, my car has only been hit when stopped. Most frequently when parked...but not always.
