"I don't think God got drunk one night and was like, hey, I'm gonna fuck with the genetic pool!"

I hope everyone had a very merry Christmas. Mine was busy (to the point of exhaustion) and fraught with too-little sleep, but generally happy, as it was filled with cookies and Apples to Apples. Today was a delightful Boxing Day (it was really good to see you, Sam!) and even though I have to go to work tomorrow, it won't really feel like work because Karen won't be there. Plus, it's only a two-day week, and then I've got another four-day weekend followed by a three-day week. The following week will be interesting, since it will be the first full week I will have worked in a month. I'll keep you posted on how that goes.

I have some very important news to share with the world: I (sorta) cleaned my condo today.

Yes, I know this comes as a shock to many of you, but Alyssa and Tony refused to come visit me if I didn't at least make the place presentable, and I can't go on living like a shut-in anymore, so it had to be done. I decided to take before and after photos to document the occasion (sorry for the poor quality and bad lighting...cell phone cameras aren't magic, you know.)

As you can see, it's not perfect, but it's quite the transformation. I still need to vacuum, and my bedrooms are a whole other story, but I no longer feel like I'm wallowing in filth. After two weeks of wading through embossing supplies and trying not to get tangled in yarn, I feel like I can finally breathe again. As a side note, my kitchen is also pretty clean, because I had to make cookies on Monday. (Side side note: I have a newfound love of parchment paper. It's glorious and I want to make out with whoever invented it.)

If I don't update before then, a Happy New Year to you all!
