Okay, so I died after Day-11. I did warn you all that I'm not a persistent person. Oh well.
So, last month, before my big move from Harmoni to Grogol, I started craving for pancakes all the sudden. I looked it up on the net, and it turns out that near Harmoni, at Plaza Indonesia (PI, for short) precisely, a pancake place exists. It's called Pancious. The serve pancakes as their speciality, but they also have other menus. I tried out their Pancake Special, Chicken Honey Mustard Salad, and Green Mojito.
(As a note, this place is quite pricey. I'd say it's on par with prices at Bakerzin. But the portion's were parallel to the price, so if you're hungry and don't mind emptying out your pocket to fill your stomach, you may give this a shot.)
The Green Mojito came first. My standard's of Green Mojito has been set by Pizza Marzano, so the comparison is inevitable. Pancious' Green Mojito was slightly larger, with a long slice of cucumber adorning the beverage. The mint leaves were only slightly crushed, but they gave off a strong flavour that dominated the beverage at first. I had to crush the cucumber blocks, though, since the mint sort of blocked the cucumber flavour--and the cucumbers weren't crushed at all, so it was difficult to taste light, refreshing flavour of the cucumber. After crushing the cucumber blocks for a while and letting the ice melt down a bit, the mojito finally got that balanced tinge.
Next were the pancakes. I ordered a double stack, thinking of the thin, flimsy pancakes they usually serve here in Indonesia. But, I got it wrong. The waffle was HUGE. (Btw, I ordered a mix variety of one pancake and one waffle. The waffle was stacked on top of the pancake.) It was great in taste as well. The texture was light, soft, and fluffy--perfect for a breakfast meal. The pancake was of standard size, but much thicker. I'm not much of a fan of the pancake, though that might be because I ate it after the waffle. The pancake was rather bland, and the texture was stockier and thicker than the waffle, making it taste a bit doughy. (But I think it's partly due to the fact that it was placed beneath the waffle while still warm, causing the pancake to become soggy.) What delighted me the most was the generous amount of maple syrup they served along with the pancakes. They give you a whole mini-pitcher full. (It's the red thing beside the pancake plate in the picture.) The downside of it was the slice of butter that comes with the dish. The texture screamed margarine, rather than butter to me.
Apparently, the "special" thing about Pancake Special is that you get a scoop of ice cream on top. The flavours available are vanilla, chocolate, and cookies and cream. I chose vanilla to keep it safe. The flavour was light, as I like my vanilla ice creams, and very vanilla-ish. Not so milky, not so creamy.
Finally, we have the Chicken Honey Mustard Salad. When I saw the mustard, which they served in a separate bowl, I thought that it had to be the palest mustard I've ever seen. True, it tasted more like mayonnaise than mustard, but it did give the salad a great boost in flavour. The chicken was nicely broiled, dry on the outside, juicy on the inside. The salad was fresh, green, and crunchy--I had bit into a single bitter leaf, but I think that's just my lack of luck. The salad also came with slices of tomatoes and blocks of dried garlic bread. The garlic bread was really, really garlicky, very tasty. The mustard-slash-mayo complimented the entire mix very well, giving the salad a fresh flavour. I would've appreciated a dash of lemon on the chicken, but overall the salad was definitely a winner.
