Why are there cards at Hallmark commemorating just about any occasion but only one phrase for "Thank you"?

When you live in the Bay Area you get a lot of different organizations fighting for time during a very few weekends over the Chinese New Year, and some of these organizations inevitably get their events scheduled on weekends to either side of the actual holiday.

( Today I ended up in a late parade as part of a lion dance band. )

Another scene done. Not much yesterday--life has been a bit crazed here at Chez Shaolin. The friend who I'd figured would be good for a few remuneratively rewarding hours a week got nailed by a big budget reduction in her group.
