The Royal Society is turning 350! They've spiffed up their website with a really nicely done timeline listing important scientific advances covered by the Society for the past 350 years, along with pdfs you can grab of the actual papers. Some pretty heavy hitters are represented: Newton, Maxwell, Herschel--brother *and* sister, Faraday. Some biology and chemistry, too, but I wanted to hit my faves first.
There are also dots on the timeline for interesting cultural and technological occurrences, but no accompanying articles. I still found them interesting. I had no idea the Spanish Inquisition didn't officially end until 1830. Yuck.
Anyway, it's pretty cool. Check it out!
