It is taking me a long time to actually realise what is going on over there. Some part of me refuses to believe that several people have died already ( Read more... )

My gut reaction usually ends up being to secondguess everything that has to do with priorities.

Feels really awkward to contact her now. :(

I'm sure she'd understand if you tried to find out if she was affected. People can go forever, letting their relationships to other people fall in disrepair, when something like this happens and suddenly you need to know. (I'm not translating my thoughts that well to words, right now.) It is a better excuse for wanting to reestablish contact than if you suddenly needed to borrow money. :)

My feeling is that mangaka and voice actors are people, too. They're affected by this tragedy just like a normal person in Japan is. Wanting to know if they're okay is reasonable.

I'm sure if anyone has family in Japan, their family was on the mind, first thing. I don't know anyone there, but I'm hoping everyone pulls through. :(

Oda is okay from what I've heard. On the Anime News Network, they're trying to confirm the status of all anime/manga industry people through their blogs, twitter accounts and other internet sources. On the forums, someone stated that a friend of Oda's contacted him and he replied "I'm okay" which the friend then posted on twitter. I'll look for that post if you want me, too. :)

As for Hidekaz Himaruya, aren't they (can't remember if male or female!) in New York? That's what their profile on ANN has. I'm trying to look through their website for a blog or something that updates.

皆さん大丈夫ですか?
自宅が福島なんですがしっちゃかめっちゃかみたいで

I hope this helps some. :(

I saw this shortly after he posted it. I won't lie, I cried when I read that first sentence:
"Is everyone okay?"

It is a relief to hear mangaka are safe. Hopefully, they can use their talents to help raise money for others not so lucky. :( I've heard some are doing just that.
