SHANTARI!!!! XD *tackles* I missed you! LJ has become lonely! :(
2. I still don't have a job. >_< My uncle is looking for something, but I haven't heard back from him. I'm hoping to hear from him since last we talked I told him me and my mom were about ready to fight (and we were trying to avoid that).
I'm sure you'll be fine for school, bombed room or not. XD
3. *sobs with you* Life is so unfair. T_T
4. I know! I was just thinking about that today! People have this horrible expectation that woman have to look a certain way in order to get anything out of life. It's beyond stupid! To me, there's a difference in coming looking like you've just got out of bed and cleaning up and looking decent. The latter I do often and I rather not spend two and half hours every day making myself look like I've walked out of the cover of a magazine (or something to that effect)! *rolls eyes*
- Used to be that it was masculine to opnely weep, and a good woman kept her emotions to herself.
And yet if a woman does cry, she's weak or something else degrading. The double standards are sickening.
- Men, with their more advanced brains, were good at the difficult and important subjects like philosophy, language and rethorics. Women with their simpler brains should make do with mathematics.
This makes me laugh. My poor mathematically deprived brain. XD
When did that happen? I knew they copied their language, at least. I find it interesting that women could rule, but not their descendants, and even then former Empresses had quite the pull behind the scenes, at least until the Meiji Restoration occurred (or so I've heard).
5. Yes! Please! I'm lonely! (I apologize for being self-centered! :p ).
6. What's Gothcon? Can I google it (likely find out in a few minutes! XD ).
2) I hope it goes well for you. Be proud that you have your degree, I still have yet to start on my engineering one. :)
4) I rather not spend two and half hours every day making myself look like I've walked out of the cover of a magazine (or something to that effect)!
I've tried the whole putting-on-some-make-up-every-day-like-everyone-else-my-gender-seemed-to-be-so-keen-on. Got annoying and pointless pretty quickly, my make-up skills didn't ammount to much more than mascara. The life-value-increase just couldn't match the time-cost, if there was any value-increase at all. And you know, I just remembered that I've been to parties where I was one of the only if not the only girl without make up, and no one could tell. I mean the whole point of make up is that no one is supposed to be able to tell if you have some on or not, in a brainbreaking kind of way.
When did that happen?
Really early, I think. The written language was co opted by the Japanese during the Han-period, hence why the signs are called Kan-ji (ji = sign/symbol) in Japanese. Really stupidly though, because the Chinese written language didn't mesh with the Japanese spoken language at all. That's the reason why they have to additional alphabets, the Hiragana and the Katakana. Besides the Roman (Romajii) alphabet, which they mostly insert in advertising. (The spoken language of Japanese is extremely wonderful to learn though. Their grammar seems almost to have been planned out by a super-genius, that's how incredibly good it is. Name one other language that has only two irregular verbs.)
The truth is that in general women held a lot more power before the 19th century than people think they did. Everyone thinks that the further in the future you go the more equal things get, but social evulotion has not been that straight forward. Sweden was, if I don't misremember, the or one of the first countries to allow a Princess to take over after her father. (Not like they had any choice, she was an only child, and six at the time to boot.) But it's only with the current princess that the laws have changed so that she will inherit the throne eventhough she has a younger brother. (By the way, isn't she pretty? For some reason people don't think she is as pretty as her younger sister, but her younger sister looks like every pretty girl. The news of the engagement (which I never got around to gushing about on my LJ) is one of the few times I've ever gotten really interested in celebrity gossip. If that makes me a right wing royalist to some of my countrymen, I don't care. Pretty, smart, nice and generally awsome future queen of my country is getting married!) (Also Duchess of my landscape/region/county/thingy. We're getting a duke!)
5) I'll try. I've pretty much stored up interesting things to talk about.
6) I tried googling it myself, because I got curious over whether you would be able to figure it out that way. Anyway, it's gaming convention held yearly in Gothenburg. Every easter holiday.
2. Thanks. I'm actually more hopefully about this than I have ever been. If this turns out badly, I don't think I'll have any confidence left. :( Yeah, I'm glad I do have my degree and I'm sure you'll do fine with your engineering degree! ^_^
4. I've never learned the proper way to apply make-up, either, and I just don't want to learn. I'll never get it right and it really doesn't match the time-cost.

True. Another reason why I don't bother with it except on highly special occasions.
I didn't know any of that at all. I had a friend in college who studied Chinese and at Japanese fuctions our college had she tried to identify the characters. I distinctly remember her saying she identified one character has something, but in reality it was something else. Same character, but different meaning. I always wondered why they had Hiragana and Katakana.
One of these days I'm going to have to put an effort into studying some Japanese history. ^_^ Read Wikipedia and I rather like Princess Victoria. :) She seems like a nice person and she's rather pretty, too! I don't think it makes you a 'right wing royalist,' seriously, I hate stupid labels like that. I wasn't aware she was getting married. That's wonderful! ^_^ Congrats to Sweden!
5. Yes! *evil grin* Come back to the dark s...I mean, livejournal.
