Since I'm not comfortable to use my English for writing anything important, this is going to be short: I'm asking you guys for some very needed help. I'm pretty new to the fandom [4 weeks ain't enough, fact I realized after I decided to do this crazy thing], so I'm 100% sure I've missed something in this timeline. For example my knowledge of COI 2005 [I couldn't find anything about COI 2006] is almost non-existent. And that's not the only such occurrence. Basically, I need something like a beta work for this timeline. I'm pretty good at collecting and making timetables, but anything that involves having to write something on my own in English is still shaky ground. If you can add anything, be it a picture, a summary of an event, a quote, a link, anything, I would be beyond grateful.
Thanks.

Stephane Lambiel

Very basic facts: He's a 25 year old Swiss figure skater, who was born on April 2nd, 1985 in Martigny, and grew up in Saxon, Switzerland. He has an older sister - Silvia (born in 1982) and and younger brother Christophe (born in 1989). Already, he can speak French, German (not Swiss German), English, and Portuguese fluently. He is learning Italian. Stephane`s mother is Portuguese. He lives in Lausanne, Switzerland and received his "maturité" (matura) in biology and chemistry in June 2004. Is 5' 9" [175 cm]. His good luck charm is a ladybug. Has dated fellow figure skater Carolina Kostner [2003-2005]. For more on him read these amazing primers by misskittye and glitterdash here and here [just scroll down a little].

Skating

He is a two-time (2005-2006) World Champion, the 2006 Olympic silver medalist, a two-time (2005, 2007) Grand Prix Champion and a nine-time (2001-08, 2010) Swiss national champion. He is known for his spins and is credited with popularizing some spin positions. Unlike most figure skaters, Stephane can spin and jump in both directions.

Johnny Weir

Again, very basic facts: John G. "Johnny" Weir (born July 2, 1984) is an American figure skater. He was born in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, to John and Patti Weir. He has a brother, Brian, who is four years younger. Weir was raised in Quarryville, Pennsylvania, a town in southern Lancaster County. In the summer of 2007, he moved to Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and began training in nearby Wayne. He is 5 ft 9 in (1.75 m). Has a TV Show on the Sundance channel "Be good Johnny Weir". When he was a boy, he was a successful competitor as an equestrian. Yes, he skated to Poker face by Lady Gaga. A must read is this hilarious CHAT TRANSCRIPT FROM 05 [thanks ontd_skating]. He was in a serious relationship for three years. which ended in the summer of 2006. "We did a really long tour, then after the tour I got dumped after a three year relationship..." . [Rumor: the relationship was with Drew Meekins, an American pairs skater.]
For more on Johnny, check out this amazing primer by jocondite.

Skating

He is a three-time U.S. National Champion (2004-2006), the 2008 Worlds bronze medalist, a two-time Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, and the 2001 World Junior Champion. Unlike most figure skaters, he is a clockwise spinner and jumper.

Gala for The World Figure Skating Championships:

When the male skaters were requested to do something all together for the closing number "something like a triple axel in syncro" in the words of the coreographer, he [Johnny] quickly patted Stephane Lambiel who was going dark over the triple axel mention and got everyone distracted starting to organize the "syncro element" (that was funny too since he was like playing the role of the great coreographer making big gestures and instructing everyone else on what they should do, patiently repeating his idea to Takahashi and Joubert...we really were expecting something big but in the end they made a spin! But judging from Joubert and Daisuke faces I think they rejected Johnny's most adventurous ideas...) link to the whole report

nyseides Johnny changed the men's synchronized element from a 3A to a spin; from what Stephane is worst at to what he's best at

Johnny's exhibition, but thanks to youtube, with no music. He skated to Ave Maria by Josh Groban.

A good article about Johnny's history and decision to change coaches done just after the Worlds - “I said to myself, ‘Either change, dig deep, and decide what I want from skating ... or quit.”, “I knew I needed something exclusive.” [about coaches], “There I was, leaving my coach of forever, and [Zmievskaya] chastised me as if I were a child. I knew enough,” Weir said laughing, “not to talk back to this lady.”

Stephane explaining to the press why he took the decision to change coaches at the Dreams of Ice 2008 luncheon party - "I will practice with my friend Johnny" and he looks over his shoulder and grins at Johnny as he says it. Then the crowd laughs and claps in response, and Stephane looks so cute. You can also catch a little glimpse of Johnny grinning back at him, which makes it even more adorable.

Training together [2008]

Stéphane Lambiel Moving To New Jersey

Stéphane Lambiel’s Move a Surprise to Johnny Weir

Apparently Stephane decided to inform his new coaches about his final decision for the change via the European press.

From Johnny Weir's journal:

I have received so many letters of concern and support due to the announcement that Stephane Lambiel will come to train in the same group as me. I just want to make a more personal statement about this than what many of you already know. I've known Stephane since I was thirteen and he was twelve and we both competed in novice boys in a small city in Slovenia. We continued our rise up the ladder together competing in various junior grand prix events and junior world competitions and finally worlds, Olympics, and Grand Prixs. I have nothing but admiration for what Stephane has done with his career. I think he will be a very good training mate. I can't see myself training with many other elite male skaters, but Stephane and I go so far back, and we're now turning into the "veterans" of our competitions that I don't think anything bad will come out of this arrangement. I trust that my coaches will still work with me the same as they did before. I'm at the age, and maturity that I can understand that nothing Stephane does on a daily basis can change my ultimate goals or my drive. I will work hard and do my best regardless if one of my top rivals is there to see it or not. I know how well my coaching change worked for me last season and I'm glad that has been recognized by a top athlete no less, and I hope it will work for Stephane. He is a great person and a wonderful athlete and I think I can only take positives from training with him.

Info about the training arragements - Currently, Johnny and Stephane are training at the same time at the rink, but when the competitive season gets closer, they will train at different times.

Froma person, who's training on the same rink - "I wouldn't want to skate with them all the time, they both kind of take up the whole ice and I had some trouble getting stuff done, but watching them was kinda cool.", "From what I saw though, they both looked pretty good. Johnny especially seemed to be in really good spirits. I think Stephane is just more serious in general when it comes to practice. Their programs were nice, Johnny had one really cool slide/lunge type move, and does a catchfoot layback at the end of his combination spin. One of Stephane's programs is some sort of cool jazzy piano type music."

Lambiel and Weir: Perfect together? Rivals and friends share ice - "This is going to be on a more daily basis. I think it's something that both of us need to get used to, but I'm happy that he's here and I'm happy that I have someone to compete with everyday, and somebody who is my friend, that I actually like, skating with me everyday." Weir said.

Short info about the traning place - It's in New Jersey, has two rinks operating year round and there is a lot of hockey stuff happening in it.

More reports about them traing together [in russian] - Johnny and Stephen communicate very well. It seems that Stephen is very pleased with the new coaches.

- You've been recently at Galina Zmievskaya's? What can you say about her students?
- I'm delighted. I've seen Johnny Weir and Stephane Lambiel training. What a speed, very powerful skating. Really men skating. They are doing good job. Lambiel is doing quads almost with his eyes closed. Though he still has problems with triple Axel. They are trying with Victor to solve this problem, but this is rather hard for the adult skater to learn something again in different way. Weir has a great Axel. Quad he is also doing. I saw him doing it. Few times he finished it well. But often he finishes on two legs. They both are training on the same ice. I heard that Johnny wasn't very glad, that stephane is coming. But after that everything was settled down somehow. Now, though, Stephane, it seems, was injured, and now [he is] at home, in Switzerland.[Oleg Makarov, former pairs figure skater, father of Johnny's fellow trainiee Ksenia Makarova]

Stephane did not compete in season 2008-2009 after he announced his retirement from competitive skating on October 16th 2008, but performed in a lot of ice shows in Switzerland, France, Italy, Japan, Canada and South Korea.

Training for the show:

Being good friends, they were making their own pair-program all day long - in one corner when other skaters are practicing, in the corner of the lounge when others are having lunch.....really all day long!! They were even talking about who's going to do the female part. Then they came to me and asked if they can perform it in the real show. They were so close and chummy, maybe because they were freinds&rivals for such a long time....It was nice to see them getting along so well..., *photos of Johnny and Stephane, hands down, best couple of the day!! sweet Johnny and Stephane from here

On the bus, after the show:

"Stephane decided that his tight jeans for the finals were too tight and he changed with Scott Moir in the bathroom. Johnny said that his yellow jeans made him too chubby (literally - made him fat), so he asked for the red ones. But Stephane said that the likes the red jeans, so he got them as a result. Oh, Johnny ... (I mean, no luck:)) After the show, Stephane noticed in the bus: "Oh, this bus has karaoke!" - and sung (all the way:)) everything, including "Dancing Queen". I heard (and) that they all wanted Johnny to sing, and Stephen also insisted that he sang, but he kept saying "NO" and "maybe some other time." But Stephane did not give up. So Johnny did sing on the last day after all.

Festa on Ice 2009 Finale + Encore

2010 XXI Olympic Winter Games were held on February 12-28, 2010, in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Stephane placed 4th and Johnny 6th.

Report from a freelance photographer here - The rink he was using is right near the Village so afterwards we walked back and we talking about Switzerland and it turns out he's from the same town as my bf (I thought he was just born in Zurich oops) and we had a good ol chat about Martigny and had coffee and ran into Johnny at the cafe. They are very cute with each other. Stephane is very doting and teasing and Johnny acts all huffy and eye-rolly but it's obvious he enjoys the attention. They were talking about the upcoming KOI stuff in Russia .......

[I realize I haven't even introduced myself, but I'm still not used to making any kind of introduction post on an internet journal. In the last 6-7 years I have used it mostly [99.9% of the time] as a way to surf livejournal. So, hi and I hope that soon I'll have an idea how to do post that don't contain any pretty boys (well, I'll try)]
