The Sims 3 Walkthrough: Create A Sim

Jun 03, 2009 00:01

I've decided that I'm going to split up the walkthrough into different parts, because there are sooo many aspects of the game to cover, and if I did one update it would be REEEEEALLLLYY long haha. So..here's Create A Sim!

So we start at the basics. Just like the Sims 2, you start with your name, gender, age, skin tone and body type. This is Jen Peters.

Notice how there's a "young adult" age group. Now you don't have to go to college to be this age.

First I played around with the new body weight features. The sliders are really awesome.

I ended up deciding on a somewhat skinny somewhat muscle-y body type.

In Sims 3, a way to get to all the features are by physically clicking on them. You can see when I click on the hair, my cursor has a little bear by it.

Anyways, onto faces. They give you a big list of face shapes to choose from. Also, when you click the magnifying glass you can define certain features.

First up is eyes. I chose some big round eyes and a green color to start.

The Sims 3 offers a huuuge color palette for eye color, etc.

You can go really crazy if you want with the color wheel.

I decided a dark green would be fine. Next you can define little points of the eye.

You can also mess around with the eyebrows. When I saw the "brow rotation," I immediately set it all the way up so I can show Jessie the evil eye brows she loves so much. :D

But then I set them back to normal and messed around with the nose. Again, you can mess with one little point at a time.

Haha, pig nose. :D

Again with the editing of the lips. The Sims 3 is really detailed with the facial features, and I was thoroughly surprised.

LOOK! Now you don't need CC for freckles! You can check boxes to give your sim freckles!

I didn't think freckles were Jen's thing, but I did give her a beauty mark under her eye. The make up option is a lot different. You choose what SHAPE you want your make up in, then you choose whatever color you want.

Of course, the color wheel is available for make up shades.

The same goes for eyeliner. You can have any color you want.

But I'm just going to stick with black.

The blush is the same. But I'm not a huge fan of blush so I'm moving on.

The lip stick is also by shape. Then you choose a color.

But when you want to make it a different color, there's three shades.

I made all the shades a little lighter.

The face paint option is still available...okay moving on.

The hairstyles are really cool.

I went with a long look, like my own. And I also got rid of that terrible grey.

Now there's a tab called "Hair with Accessories." This is basically hair with things in it. Like hats, headbands, pony tails, and what not.

Most of the up-dos are in this category.

Here's my quick demo of Create A Style! It's not hard to figure out. Basically you can change any part of anything to anything you want.

Haha I made that hat a little crazy.

Here's where we edit the eyebrows and...LOOK! EYELASHES!
Yep, that bottom slider is eye lash length!

I gave her some long-ish ones.

You can do all sorts of crazy things with your sim's hair. You can make parts of it crazy colors with the color wheel.

I went in and gave her some brown tips, cause hey, that looks kinda cool.

Now for clothes!

There are tons of new options for clothes. Most everything is split up into tops and bottoms now. The tops and bottoms are split by STYLE of shirt or whatever, and then you can choose from different patterns and color.

In create a style you can change anything you want. There's millions of different outfits you could use.

There are lots of bottom options to choose from.

The outfits tab is only for clothes that can't be separated. Like dresses.

I found a winner! It's so cute.

My favorite part! You can finally change your shoes!

Haha you can go barefoot. :P

You can also use create a style on the shoes.

There's a long list of accessories you can choose from.

Haha! Now you can get crazy socks and leggings!

Leggings in action. They don't look great with the outfit, but they could on something else.

There are some cool formal choices.

From weird green fur coats.

To SUITS! Now women can wear suits!

I settled with a pretty red dress.

The pajamas are put into separates as well.

You can also edit the shoes you want.

I like this white thing though. :)

The athletic outfits are also in separates. You can pair whatever you want together.

I really like what they've done with swim suits. They're separates now as well!

You can have shirts and shorts for swim wear now too, for those shy sims. ;)

You can mix and match to get lots of fun combinations.

And there's really cute one pieces now!

I settled with a plain suit, that matches.

Now for personality traits!

They're all divided up into tabs. "All," "Mental," "Physical," "Social," and "Lifestyle."

The first trait I give to Jen is Virtuoso. This means she's going to be great at music. I gave her this trait because I'm in band, of course. :D

The next one I give her is Clumsy, since well, I'm really clumsy. :P

The next one I'm giving her is Great Kisser, because haha my ex-boyfriend was a great kisser and this would be a fun trait to have.

Next I'm giving her Heavy Sleeper because my mom is a REALLY heavy sleeper, along with the rest of my family.

And last I'm giving her Hot-Headed because my step dad has a major temper.

Here is where you choose your life time wish. Your life time wish is based off of the traits you choose for your sims.
I chose for Jen to want to become a Hit Movie Composer.

I like this add on. You get to choose your sim's favorites! My sim's options are favorite food, favorite music, and favorite color. I'm not sure if every sim gets these three options, and I don't know if they're based on traits.

You also get to adjust your sim's VOICE! No longer will everyone sound the same!
The slider adjusts the pitch of the voice, and there's three preset voices you can choose from.

I decided that Jen's favorite food will be fruit parfait.

Her favorite music will be classical, and her favorite color is red.

When I was finished I realized this AWESOME tool. Now you can CREATE A TWIN!!!! No more remembering what you did exactly to make look a likes. Now you just get to clone them. :D

So that's all for now! I hope you enjoyed the first part of my walkthrough! I'm off to play some more. THIS GAME ROCKS!
