What did you do in 2009 that you'd never done before?
Adopted/raised/trained a puppy, saw Rent (saw three touring shows, actually), met some internet celebrities that Sarah and I are ridiculously in love with, and moved to another city!
Did you keep your New Year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Maybe? Not sure if I remember what they were (I was wasted on New Year's lol), but I have some new ones planned for '10.
Did anyone close to you give birth?
My ex-boss did... but I secretly despise all authority figures, so she was only close by proximity.
Did anyone close to you die?
Roy E. Disney was close to my heart :'(
What countries did you visit?
None, and no new states, either. Maybe that'll be one of this year's resolutions.
What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?
Disposable income! Less stress! A job I like! And more self-control...
What date from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory?
I have too bad of a memory to "etch" anything on it, especially a specific date. But I'll remember the events themselves.
What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Moving!
What was your biggest failure?
The whole UCF thing. That was an extreme disappointment. But now that I'm at this point, I don't feel as if it was such a bad thing. Maybe I needed it to force me into a different direction. We'll see.
Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nah.
What was the best thing you bought?
Luca♥ Though his adoption fee was considered a "donation". I also love the signed Rent poster I bought a few weeks ago, also a "donation" to Broadway Cares/Fight AIDS, lol.
Whose behavior merited celebration?
Sarah's, as always... she continually puts up with a hell of a lot for me.
Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
My own behavior. I really need to work on controlling my emotions.
Where did most of your money go?
I ask myself the same question :P Mainly bills, gas, and food. Secondly, my impulsive desires. I don't regret any resulting wonderful experiences (seeing Rent, for one), but I do need to hold back on the small stuff. I shop sometimes like I have money to spare and usually, I don't. It's a bad stress relief technique to have when you're poor.
What did you get really, really, really excited about?
All the plays I saw this year, meeting the Demyx Time girls, The Princess and The Frog, and moving.
Compared to this time last year, are you
i. happier or sadder? A bit happier, I think. Like '08, '09 had its share of ups and downs. But I feel like I'm going in the right direction this time.
ii. thinner or fatter? A bit pudgier, lol. But I'm going to start riding my bike around again.
iii. richer or poorer? Richer because I qualified for a lot more financial aid... but poorer because I'm still unemployed and waiting on the fin aid money. I have a good feeling about next year, though.
What do you wish you'd done more of?
I wish I'd been able to travel somewhere beyond the center of Florida! But I guess Daytona and Tampa count for something.
What do you wish you'd done less of?
Losing my cool.
How will you be spending Christmas?
Sarah and I want to see Sherlock Holmes :3 And I'll probs be at my grandma's for her neighborhood buffet.
What was your favorite TV program?
I always watch the same stuff... Nat Geo channel, Animal Planet, HGTV, Food Network, Travel Channel... but I think that Sarah and I started watching Weeds and the Office on Netflix this year? We take so long to do anything it could've been in '08. But we're enjoying those. And forcing Fushigi Yuugi upon ourselves.
Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Not hate, but I did end a friendship.
What was the best book you read?
... I haven't been reading lately :| Need to rectify this in '10.
What was your greatest musical discovery?
... Cats? xD The songs are damn catchy. Don't judge me.
What did you want and get?
A dog, a new house, lots of love and understanding, lots of new and wonderful experiences, lots of Broadway! ... hell, maybe that's why I'm not getting any Christmas presents this year. Santa has been secretly distributing them to me throughout the whole year ;)
What did you want and not get?
A job I love that pays decently. I've been wanting one of those for awhile now. I can't even find a tolerable job!
What was your favorite film of this year?
The Princess and the Frog!
What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Turned 24! And I went to Epcot with my family and ate a ridiculously expensive meal in France, one of my life-long dreams (lols) :'D
What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Remember the "ups and downs" thing? Well, fewer downs would have been nice. And a tolerable job would have been great.
How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?
What is that I dunno lol
What/who kept you sane?
Support from from friends and family when I needed it most, animu conventions (adieu, JACON ;__;), and theatre.
Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
The Demyx Time girls. Lol.
What political issue stirred you the most?
All the same-sex marriage bullshit ARGH I cannot even THINK straight (lol pun) when it's brought up by those religious/conservative ASS HATS! Especially those commercials with the "concerned public" whining about how SSM infringes on the "rights" of straight people because, um. YOUR RIGHTS? YOUR RIGHTS? How does that even make sense adsasfdfhgkjl THESE ARE MY RIGHTS GOD DAMN IT AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU AND... AHHHH /head explodes OKAY done.
Who did you miss?
I got pretty nice dosages of everyone :) But I do miss Sarah right now. Bitch bettah get here soon.
Who was the best new person you met?
Didn't really meet anyone new other than random people at parties.
Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009.
"Everything the light touches is our kingdom..." :O Uh, I dunno. I guess that something that initially seems devastating can lead to good things? Or at least expand your horizons.
Quote a song lyric that sums up your year?
Is it bad that I'm running through a whole bunch of Disney songs in my head? I'll go with "
Dig a Little Deeper" from Princess and the Frog. The whole song kind of sums it up. I think I'm really on my way to finding my happiness, and this year gave me a kick in the butt in the right direction. It makes sense that '09 was the Year of the Ox... my year. Big changes were in store that I had no idea would happen when the year began, and here I am... a little wiser, and a little more aware of what I want need in life.
