Josh and I were talking last nite, and he was asking me if I remembered when the first time he went to my house in Oregon. During that visit, my mom had put him on the spot by asking him why he loved me - right in front of me. Well, he was talking about that, and then said that he should have had her listen to this Billy Joel song, which he then started playing the CD. Sorry for the lyrics, but here's the song...I thought it was so sweet.
She's got a way about her
I don't know what it is
But I know that I can't live without her
She s got a way of pleasin'
I don't know what it is
But there doesn't have to be a reason anyway
She's got a smile that heals me
I don't know why it is
But I have to laugh when she reveals me
She's got a way of talkin'
I don't know why it is
But it lifts me up when we are walkin' anywhere
She comes to me when I'm feelin' down
Inspires me without a sound She touches me
and I get turned around
She's got a way of showin'
How I make her feel
And I find the strength to keep on goin'
She's got a light around her
And ev'rywhere she goes
A million dreams of love surround her
ev'rywhere
She comes to me when I'm feelin' down
Inspires me without a sound
She touches me and I get turned around
She's got a smile that heals me
I don't know why it is
But I have to laugh when she reveals me
She's got a way about her
I don't know what it is
But I know that I can't live without her anyway
It was cute, I thought. Anyway, this week has been really long. My days and nites have been long and I feel like I've barely seen Josh. He surprised me last nite and showed up to my choir concert. I didn't know he was there until it was over! The kids did a good job - I complain about choir sometimes, but I'm actually having a really good time getting to know some of the upper grade kids. This weekend will be busy as well. We're having Kris and Stephen over tonite, which will be good times as usual. Go Jazz! Tomorrow nite we have a Christmas party, and then Sunday out to the in-laws to celebrate Christmas. At least next week will slow down a bit. Then we're off to Oregon on Friday! It can't come soon enough. I'm so excited to see the new house and have everyone together. Josh and I are both really looking forward to a vacation.
In other news, more health problems have come to visit my family. My dad has the cirrhosis that he'll be going up to Portland for a doctor's appointment this week. Well, my brother just had another mole removed that appeared as though it was going to be cancerous again. Luckily he got that before it developed into something further. My mom just had a mammogram done and has suspicious areas that they are going to keep an eye on. Hopefully nothing serious, but worrisome nonetheless. She's had cysts before because of her Diet Coke intake, so hopefully that's all it is. Maybe she will curb down her drinking a bit in the meantime. I also found out a few weeks ago that my pap came back abnormal, so I'll be heading back to the doctor next month for a little procedure. I am hoping it's nothing serious as well, but it's not a good feeling to hear that. I guess we'll see what happens! For some reason, our family must have something to learn from all of this. While it's all a little scary, we've been through worse and it just brings us closer together. We have a lot to be grateful for, and I'm sure these things are just little bumps in the road.
