When we sang "Before the Throne" and "Here is Love, Vast as the Ocean" yesterday at church, the ceiling didn't fall in!
Anyhow, in all seriousness, I was impressed with Tom's musical abilities - he'd made these backing tracks that were subtle yet really helpful and is a good praise leader.
I presume my precenting in the morning wasn't terrible, either. At least, no one said I sounded like a moose, so that's a bonus!
It looks like the paradigm is going to be that in the morning we will sing one Christological or redemptive-themed hymn, or a children's chorus, and in the evening, the same, except with Tom's amazing backing. I think the plan is to keep everything out of copyright, until we make sure we know how not to breach things.
On the preaching front, we're finishing up James, which I've found very challenging, as always. And we're starting Daniel. Last night, Doug was talking about Daniel and the three others' vegetarianism, but he put the caveat that it wasn't promoting vegetarianism. Yeah, right. Adam and Eve? Vegetarians. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshac, and Abednago? Vegetarians. John the Baptist? Locust-itarian. Okay, maybe I can't include all the cool people in my dietary class, but it's fun to think so!
