Just to say, last night was both brilliant and shocking at the same time.
I bought some tickets on eBay for the Iron and Wine concert, having missed the last tickets before they sold out (again. I'm very good at doing that with my favourite musicians.) and wasn't able to get them until 5pm yesterday, just before I was leaving for the gig.
When I opened the envelope, there was only one ticket!! Oh no! So, I went into town and met Wee Steve. We were going to go to Nandos, as he'd never been there before. Apparently, everyone else at the concert had the same idea, so we couldn't get a table. Gutted. All day, I'd been salivating, thinking of my Nandos portobello-hallumi burger. So, instead, we went to a chain pub and got rubbish nachos, but at least it filled a hole.
We decided to try to get a ticket off a scalper (or "taut", as I have now been taught the British term), who wanted to charge us £25, but I told Steve before we got there that we would only go up to £20, as the face value was £15.50. The guys wasn't happy, but decided to sell in the end. He was all "It's a sold out gig! I bought it for £20, I don't work for free." Liar. He'll have only given some poor punter £10 for it, so I wasn't letting him make £15 profit.
Wee Steve wasn't thrilled with the idea of buying from a "dodgey man", but I told him it was worthwhile.
So, we got in. It was the first time Steve had been to the Picture House. I love that venue, it's lovely inside.
Sam Beam had a cold, but his beard was shiny and lustrous as ever. And Sarah's voice was fab. I was completely surprised, as he had a saxophonist/flautist and had funked-up the arrangements of his songs. Was brilliant. He played a full hour and a half set, then I headed back to Kirkcaldy.
A wonderful concert, a rubbish build-up to it.
So, I'm trying to decide what to do about being fleeced on eBay. Any suggestions?
