Someone in a post a while back was looking for the quote from Michael where he talked about how people automatically believe things about him that are said in the press, but if he were to say them, people would think he was nuts. I finally found the quote

OH MY GOD.

There's so much truth in this statement that it's ridiculous. Honestly I don't remember a time where the media existed to solely exist to inform the public, and that saddens me sfm. It's all about the $$$, so they'll easily take things out of context or straight out lie about their sources/facts/whatever. And yet, when that's exposed, it's typically too late to do clean up for it; people already made up their minds about the subject ... It's just so CRAZY; I don't know what to say.

Michael was much smarter than people gave -- and still give -- him credit for. I've said this many times before, but I think it bares repeating. Damn.

It DOES suck, which is why when ET first put that picture on their website the day after Michael died, I got a bunch of people together on Twitter (even Sam Ronson liked the idea! Holy crap!) to contact CBS/ET to take it down. Didn't work, but it's about damn time someone speaks up.

We might not like all the celebs out there, but wrong is wrong. I don't care if it was Paris Hilton, that shit is uncalled for.

Thanks bb. Like, I do realize there was a time like that, and tabloid media isn't exactly a new thing; however, over the past thirty or so years, it's gotten way out of control. That's just not good, because it'll continue to breed an unhealthy culture if we don't band together and CHECK THIS SHIT. There's no reason why we should be getting entertainment out of seeing stars we helped made crashing and burning because we are also destroying them at the same time. Our society sucks, and I'm deeply ashamed.
