And I haven't spent nearly enough time on here with you bbs :(
I need to stop lurking on ONTD and come here where all the true fans be!Anyhoo, I just really wanted to discuss something. I've heard the song Morphine before, but always with my earbuds on. For the first time I listened to it on a loud speaker(my headphones broke :( ) Usually on headphones(well mine atleast) songs and lyrics can sound really distorted esp. with the volume all the way up.
I was online with my itunes open and I got to the verse where he talks about Demerol and I literally dropped my mouth in shock- I thought I was hearing him wrong so I googled the lyrics.
WTF!? I never even noticed he was singing about the DRUG DEMEROL!!
I feel like such a fail
What is your interpretation of this verse and the whole song in general?
I honestly don't know if it's a cry for help, or if he was simply just singing about his life at the time.
Relax
This won't hurt you
Before I put it in
Close your eyes and count to ten
Don't cry
I won't convert you
There's no need to dismay
Close your eyes and drift away
Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking demerol
Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking demerol
He's tried
Hard to convince her
To be over what he had
Today he wants it twice as bad
Don't cry
I won't resent you
Yesterday you had his trust
Today he's taking twice as much
Demerol
Demerol
Oh God he's taking demerol
Hee-hee-hee
Demerol
Demerol
Oh my Oh God it's Demerol
Hee
Oooh
Regardless, it made me cry and feel so bad. Such a morbid song now.
