Living in Colorado

So there was a big snowstorm yesterday. Really pretty when you don't have to go anywhere. Nasty as shit when you do.

I'm working at a temp job in the mountains. It's only about a half hour away, even in rush hour, because everyone's going the other way. But I tried to go to work today and I almost died.

I'm not really exaggerating that much. I slid on the ice four times and once I almost hit another car. I don't know if it's because I have no idea how to drive on this shit or if it's because I drive a Scion XA, which feels like a fucking golf cart when I'm trying to get it up the mountain. I turned around in some restaurant parking lot and went home. I actually got the car stuck on the sidewalk trying to get it in the driveway. I had to kick snow out from under the tires to get it to move. Supposedly this doesn't happen that often, but it's only November and we've had big snow three times already.

I'm hoping to get this one job I've been interviewing for because it's downtown. The bus stop across the street from my house goes to the light rail station, and the light rail lets off across the street from the building. I wouldn't have to drive at all. Driving sucks. It's normally a lot easier here than in LA, but not when all this white crap falls from the sky and gets in my way.

Neal's almost home, and then we get the puppy from Puppy Camp, which is what I call doggie day care. He only goes once a week now, but he'll get to go more when I get a steady job. This job I'm up for pays really well, too, which will make everything easier.

I love it here, but it's been a rough six months. Only really because I haven't been able to find steady work, and it's hard meeting people in a new city. But those things would be problems no matter where you go.
