So, a few days ago, I watched in amazement of the iPad. It's a beautiful device, that.. to me, felt, futureistic. It was fun, it was functional, and it was sexy. As a game designer, I saw some awesome potential from such a powerful device. Bottom line, I loved it

In my head, there's still absolutely no reason for me to fill the nonexistent gap between my HTC HD2 and my Alienware laptop.
I'm sure the iPad will be great when the 3rd iteration comes out, but this one is simply too crippled. Save for the e-reader part, my phone does the same and in some respects outperforms the iPad.
And I know you shouldn't base your own opinion on what others think, but every single tech blog I've read are either incredibly disappointed or indfifferent at best towards it.

But yeah, maybe the tech pundits are disconnected from what Joe Average wants - I however think that Joe Average would never buy an iPad, because it's a geeky niche product. Joe Average is probably very satisfied with his laptop, and it's certainly not Joe Average who buys Apple products (save for phones and mp3 players).
That leaves the geeks... most of whom don't like it.

My netbook's got a 12" screen, weigh 3 lbs and has a 5 hour battery. How are you gonna position a flat screen in bed anyway?

Now, I will concede that I may see more use in the device due to my limited vision. The form factor gives me more control over where I have it. I can lay the thing on my pillow and prop nyself over it. I can lay on my back holding It above me, or prop it up lazily while I lay on my side.
My netbook only had a 8.9 inch screen but even on the 12.1 inch convertible, I still find myself hunched over it uncomfortably to use it.
