So, a few days ago, I watched in amazement of the iPad. It's a beautiful device, that.. to me, felt, futureistic. It was fun, it was functional, and it was sexy. As a game designer, I saw some awesome potential from such a powerful device. Bottom line, I loved it

Besides, My computer takes most DVDs and converts them to h.264 anyway. I spend 10 mins hunched over my laptop, transfer the movies over, and then I'm free to do as I wish.
Now obviously in America, we have nothing even close to the HD2, and when we do get the HD2, it will cost MUCH more than the iPad. An iPad is a devices of convenience, not practicality. I don't expectet it to replace my Laptop or Smartphone... but to compliment them and offer me an alternitive to each.
The point of this post is that, yes, most tech blogs poopoo on the iPad.. But alot of it reminds me of the people at WalMart who look at the Android phones and go.. "Why does my phone need to have the internet, if I wanted to use the internet, i have a computer at home for that" Obviously we don't agree with that state of mind. In this situation, I might have to disagree with popular opinion and... maybe.. form my own.

And I wouldn't compare tech blogs to the people of Wal-Mart. Most of them make a living off of gadgets such as this, so they know what they're talking about.

And as far as tech bloggers, And even many of us, We are the minority, Some tech bloggers even admit that with all the little gadgets they see, They can be disconnected from what the general public will like.

Maybe it's just because my laptop is pretty brutal that something like watching a movie doesn't cause the fans to kick into high gear, and besides, I use headphones anyway :P
But yeah, maybe the tech pundits are disconnected from what Joe Average wants - I however think that Joe Average would never buy an iPad, because it's a geeky niche product. Joe Average is probably very satisfied with his laptop, and it's certainly not Joe Average who buys Apple products (save for phones and mp3 players).
That leaves the geeks... most of whom don't like it.

My netbook's got a 12" screen, weigh 3 lbs and has a 5 hour battery. How are you gonna position a flat screen in bed anyway?

Now, I will concede that I may see more use in the device due to my limited vision. The form factor gives me more control over where I have it. I can lay the thing on my pillow and prop nyself over it. I can lay on my back holding It above me, or prop it up lazily while I lay on my side.
My netbook only had a 8.9 inch screen but even on the 12.1 inch convertible, I still find myself hunched over it uncomfortably to use it.
