12th Night Post #4 -- Final thoughts

Jan 14, 2009 15:40

I am glad that the event is over and done with.  I am glad that it was successful.  Yes, there were some minor problems, but Siegfried (or the people delgated to certain jobs) smoothed over all the ones that I know about.

I am pleased with my children, especially the girls.  They have reached a very self- sufficient stage.  They were told where our food basket was, and they were told who was in charge.  The girls did very well.  They loved putting water jugs onto the tables for feast.  They might even have stayed to serve feast if they were not so tired.  Richard was not as good as them, but he is two years younger.  He was ready to go home by 4 pm, but did well enough until my mom got them at dinner time.

I was pleased with being able to sing with Alle Psalite again, and I believe that we were well received.  In reading the court reports I see many people who richly deserved awards.  While it would have been nice to see that in person at court, I would not trade the jobs I had to do that.  I believe that the primary job of the local hosting group is to do the work -- to allow others to enjoy the day, so that they can reciprocate in the future.

Minor peeve of the day are the people who (pretend?) to not know you.  Including one who I have talked to in person several times and emailed and .... oh well, it doesn't truly matter.  But I did play the "I'm the autocrat's wife, and the message is important" card twice because of it.

A few other minor peeves, but nothing to talk about.  They are far outweighed by the rest of the good stuff.
