While I was looking

For pictures of myself when I was younger to show E the odd things I used to do with my hair, I stumbled across one of my favorite pictures of her. In it, she's wearing a deerskin outfit that was mine when I was very little, and it was made and beaded by my Aunt Cecelia for the WIEO baby contest. I took 1st place. According to family legend, more because I was quiet and content than because I was so cute. I'll have to get into the newspaper archives to get pictures of myself in the outfit because Something Weird happened to my grandma's scrapbook of every time I was in the paper. Like.. it disappeared. She told me about it, my mom told me about it, but when I looked for it, it was *gone*. She had clippings of every single poem or story I had published to date and of every single time I won an award and was in the paper. Ah well.. it bothers more because it was something important to her then because I need the memorabilia. But I'm seriously digressing. Truth? I like this picture more than the ones that exist microfiched somewhere of me in the same outfit.

I need also to get pictures sometime of my mom's needlepoint and my grandma's knitting. I come from a long line of crafty ladies.

The blanket behind her.. my mom had been given this very tacky "woven blanket" kit with mesh and yarn, and she disliked it and gave it to me. I don't recall what I did with the mesh, but I crocheted a big granny square as a baby blanket for E. It's still the one thing she makes sure is packed on any over nighter.

Bead chat at 6pm PST. I'm going to be late today because it's a lovely day and I'm taking a walk with my kids. Click here for the chat room.
