That doesn't make any sense, my subject line that is.
Politics! Erik is going to talk politics! And probably make fun of what you believe at some point or another!
Let me start by saying that if you like John Kerry or George Bush and the things they stand for, kudos to you, I respect your decision. But if you're voting because P. Diddy told you too or because your whole reason for disliking Bush consists of "BUSH IS STOOPID OMG LOL" or because John Kerry looks like Count Chocula sorta, then please go die and die with GUSTO.
So Bush has officially won. Some people are thanking random Gods that the fellow with the amazing ability to make chimp facial features is staying in office, others are threatening moves to Canada because Count Chocula had the proverbial stake rammed through his heart. And yes, he does look like Count Chocula. But...honestly...shut up.
Is George Bush an idiot? Arguably, on the national level of things, yes. He's still smarter than you or I, but yes. Is John Kerry anything but George Bush and as a result, appealing to a lot of people? Yes. He's also a flip flopping indecisive man who has mastered the "Well thats a tough question to answer" and "I'm not sure there is an answer to that" responces.
I'm not really going to defend either of them. Both are complete tools with their strengths and faults, with the faults greatly outweighing the strengths, I just wanna state how confusing it is that so many people are willing to get behind others based on little to nothing outside of "He's not the other guy" or "He loves God!". DOesn't really apply to anyone on my friends list, you all seem to have good reasoning for believing what you do, but everyone else is REALLY stretching to make themselves sound politically conscious.
And another thing... people who tell me it's my duty as an American to vote...fuckkkkkk youuuuu. My duty is to do what's best for me and when I see to complete morons who's goals are both so cloudy and incoherent that it makes my brain collapse in on itself, then I officially don't have to give a shit about any of it. And don't give me that "vote 3rd party!" garbage because you know damn well the 3rd party is incredibly pointless on every level.
I frankly hope voter turn out was next to nothing. I'm sure it wasn't because MTV made it the new trendy thing to do, with commercials featuring the likes of PARIS HILTON no less, but I still hope everyone stayed away from the poles in mass. Doubtful? Yeah. But it'd be a real statement, bigger than voting for a Republican who claims to believe in God and bigger than voting for a democrat that just happens to not be the Republican.
I used to like the idea of voting. And then I started really paying attention to these clowns. There wasn't a good guy and there wasn't a bad guy. I don't think either man is evil, they're just puppets with typical political rhetoric who refuse to say anything of SUBSTANCE out of fear that it'll anger someone or hurt someone's feelings. George Bush makes stupid decisions, John Kerry has trouble making a decision at all. There really was no winning for the American people. The lesser of 2 evils is all you were gonna get at the very best.
So yeah, quit with the "I'm Moving to Canada!" and "Praise God, his will has been done!" nonsense. You ain't movin to Canada, the shame of being from a place that has given us Sum 41 and Three Days GRace is too overwhelming, plus you can't afford it and you're too lazy anyways. And if there is a God, he's just shaking his head going "What the fuck are these idiots doing?".
Just be happy that this nonsense is over for 4 years is my basic statement really.
I'm done, I don't expect anyone to read that but I felt ranty and needed to vent. Huzzah.
