Throwback Thursday

Walking the dogs the other day I overheard a group of early teen children talking about things from 'ages ago, like ten years - no, 12 or more, you know before we were born', and it made me simultaneously roll my eyes and snort. When I was their age 'ages ago' was the 40s and 50s, despite that being decades before I was born. This leads into a lot more thought on the subject of memory and history and things I'm very interested in, but those are more suited to locked ponderings (and will be). I'm not sure why that conversation sparked my memories of this song, or how much I loved it at the time, but it did, and I'm glad, because it's one of the most surreal and fun songs that came out at the turn of the millennium.

Looking back to that period from now (I feel justified in calling it a 'period' due to precocious children and their attitudes towards it), I get the sense that these off the wall, kooky songs are a lost art. I'm not sure I can remember a similar weirdness pervading any songs in recent history, but I'd love to know if I've missed any. This one is still a personal favourite in my internal soundtrack. Frequently that boy needs therapy is applicable to many situations...
