Let’s see…
Saturday - Got up early and headed to the V-ball Tournament. Played from 9:30 to 5:00. Didn’t win any games, but had fun. It took my partner and me all day to figure out where each other liked our sets. Once we did that we almost beat the team that was undefeated all day (We were tied and then they got three aces to finish).
You know how there is always one part of your body that you forget to put suntan lotion on? Well, this time for me it was my hairline. It got pretty badly burned, and all afternoon yesterday I had a bad headache and felt sick. :-(
After the tournament I showered and then headed to Clifton Park to see the Pajama Game with Kara. It was a cute show, and the folks I knew in it did very well. I also thought the two leads were great. It was all worth it to see Laura Andruski wearing leopard-print flannel pajamas!
Sunday - I hosted breakfast at my house for the Alpha Phi Housing Corporation Board (HCB). It went well, but I made way too much food and have lots of leftovers. Then I got the headache and couldn’t do much until around 4:00. At that point I started a project to put up my new TV mount. The project should have taken 20 minutes, but it ended up taking 2 hours and a trip to Home Depot for $3 in merchandise. The reason was that my stud finder is not very good, and it kept telling me I had studs where I really only had dry-wall. So, I spent a long time figuring out that the bolts for the bracket were useless in drywall, and then I had to go buy plastic wall anchors. That did the trick, and now I have a TV mounted on my wall! Unfortunately I can’t see it very well when lying in bed, so I may need to return the unit and buy a mount that swivels in the horizontal direction, so I can face it more towards the bed. (And that’s your update on the wonders of owning a house!)
Later I went to go see the
Bakerloo Theater production of Macbeth, that is being performed at RPI. It was really an amazing show! Very non-conventional. The three witches also shared the role of Lady Macbeth, and lots of women played male roles including the King and some of the thanes. The costumes were pretty cool - a contemporary mix of vaudeville and street merchant. I also thought the lighting was very effective, with tons of cues that all went very smoothly. Oh, I also really liked the way they did the final witches scene with the three prophecies. (

So, that’s the weekend in a nutshell! My only regret is not having time to make cherry ice cream!
