Phrase of the Day, Week, and Month: TUBULAR TO THE MAX!

May 21, 2003 18:37

So Jeff (the n00b) was in today. Seems pretty cool; I think he'll work out just fine, even if he does call me Catherine. He's not the first person to have done so. Evidently, I look like I should answer to some imposing Englishy name. (In fact, I do, but it isn't Catherine.)

Also, an amusing conversation, which began with Randy and Jazzy arguing about "tubular potatoes". Randy, ordinarily not a dumbass, argued strenuously that the tubular family of potatoes did indeed exist. This was the fall-out:

JAZZY: It's "tubers".
RANDY: No, it isn't.
JAZZY: Fine, we'll get another authority. HEY, ALISA!
ALISA: Huh.
JAZZY: Ever heard of the "tubular potato family"?
ALISA: No, but if you mean tubers, that's what they're called.
RANDY: Tumors?
NewYork!AMBER: It's not a tumor!
(I poked my head back to hand them the list of back books that needed to be finished.)
RANDY: We'll ask the college student. Ever heard of the tubular potato family?
ME: Well, I guess tubular potatoes are possible, but--
JAZZY: No, not the form of the potato. The actual family.
ME: Potatoes are tubers, but--
RANDY: That's it!
JAZZY: Tubular!
ME: Tubular to the max!

This left me with two things:
1.) You have to love "tubular to the max". It's so '80s.
2.) If Randy will only believe things when I say them, then I should be abusing this way more.

In other stupid news, I am apparently a bigger Rurouni Kenshin fan than I ever thought I was. Really, I thought I had more or less passed my anime stage. I still like the stuff on occasion, but my youthful JAPAN-IZ-TEH-COLZ-HOTZ stage is gone forever. (I've always been interested in Japan; that predates my anime phase.) But really, this is silly; I'm 23. I have a full-time job and a life. I'm too old for this sort of thing.

...But RK does make pretty yaoi, doesn't it.
