Wow! Today is John Williams birthday. He's now 89 and is one of the great current music makers and I so enjoyed the Star Wars music he made over the past 45 years. I listening to WQXR on my radio and it plays classical music and Williams music is now considered to be classical too so I'm hearing his SW music right now on my radio.

Today is my birthday but it's been so different than most of them because of the coronavirus. For decades I went on a train up to the Boston area a few days earlier to celebrate a relative's birthday then celebrated mine there too. I traveled to Needham on Saturday. The train was about half an hour late arriving to Penn Station and then 45 minutes late arriving at the Westwood/Route 128 station where I was met by one of my cousins and her daughter; aside from that it was an uneventful journey. A friend of mine and her niece took me to The Four Seasons restaurant to celebrate my birthday (yes I know it's a bit late but with one thing and another today was the first time we could all do it). Friday afternoon I helped my cousin with a Plugged In project - there is a 2nd Annual If I Had a Trillion Dollars (IHTD) Youth Film Festival; a bunch of the kids were making an entry and I got to help. Because we knew time would be short today we decided to make parts of my birthday tart last night and assemble it today. I really shouldn't say we as I made it in my cousin's kitchen while she did some work on her laptop, occasionally directing me to various implements while I made the shell and the custard and tucked them safely away for today.

The first (for me) major death of the year is that of Anne Francis who passed on at age 80 on January 2nd. I first became aware of her as the stunningly beautiful denizen of Altair IV in "Forbidden Planet" where she had a pet tiger.
