So the other day, my hope of survival for the human race once again took another hit. After I'd finally gotten in the car and away from the bank, was on 41 heading to my 'rents and T called me from work.

"The guest in *** says that a large diamond heart necklace was stolen from her room, and is demanding we call the police and get the housekeeper down here"

er.... WHAT??????????

"Well the guest said she put it in the drawer under her clothes because she didn't think anyone would think to there, they just came back, she checked on it, and it's gone!"

So of course I ask the, to me, obvious question, did she shake out her clothes and check in the corner? Our housekeepers have no reason to go into the drawers!

And all this time I can hear the guest in the background shouting that she knew it was stolen, and we'd better call 911 right now, and get that housekeeper down here right now cuz she wanted to talk to her and so on and so forth.

So I finally got T to talk the guest into going back up to check the drawer one more time, and T said she'd call me back in a few minutes.

When I still hadn't heard anything by the time I'd gassed up the car, I decided I needed to turn around and head back to work until this was sorted out.

So, I'm sitting in the left turn lane, waiting on the light, and trying to avoid the dude standing there trying to collect money, and the phone rings.

"She found it, it was still in the drawer, tucked in a shirt".

I don't know if she ever appologized to the housekeeper, cuz apparently after I hung up with T the guest was standing down here, cornered the housekeeper and was shouting at her, "I know you took it!"

For once, I'm so glad that our housekeepers don't speak english!

So once again, I think any hope for the survival of the human race is gone.

It's instances like this that just keep my hope getting flushed down the toilet.
