I've got my passport!
I was so chuffed to finally get it too. It costs $233 and you have wait ages. Because I didn't have any other legal photo ID, I had to get a second guarantor for the application but I am so glad that I finally have it in my hands. It's small and black with silver text embedded into the front. The inside contains a holographic image of yours truly, resembling a beardless terrortist, but I don't mind. It also comes in a dark sleeve with a white travel save booklet that is quite extensive.
I'm somewhat embarassed to realise that I could have gone overseas long ago, if I had really wanted to. I mean, it's only a few thousand dollars. I've had 20 years to accumulate the money.
Sometimes life has other ideas, but ultimately I could have made the choices to me seeing the UK a lot sooner.
So many excuses, distractions and nonsense but in truth I lost sight of the bigger picture.
Things will never be perfect, but I now have a chance to reassess my goals and focus again. I fritted away so much money too. Be honest, you've done it too.
But while this might be a small step to some of you, it's been a major mile stone for me and I am glad I have passed it.
