Long, long ago, in a galaxy far away, I signed up for this challenge to choose an album and write a fic for each song. I picked Strict Joy by the Swell Season. I wrote three completed fic(lets), and started many more. I will post the three completed ones separately, then compile the unfinished ones. These are unconnected, and do not need to be read together.
(Oh, and they're all BSG fics, mostly Kara/Lee)
Title: Strict Joy, Love That Conquers
Word Count: ~250
Love That Conquers
Been too long in the shadows, too long in the dark
Give yourself to a love that conquers

Love That Conquers, The Swell Season
On nights like this, Lee remembers flying-and flying, like so many other things, reminds him of her. He lies in the long grass, hidden from friends and foes alike, and gazes up at that canopy of stars. He remembers another night on another planet with words shouted to the sun, the moon, the sky, all the way to Elysium.
That night brought him pain and bitterness, but now it’s a fond memory which Lee remembers as he remembers her: beautiful, bright, thrilling, and all too ethereal. Lee’s life now is full of the solid and unshakeable, the rivers and trees and fields and mountains. He has little to do with the other settlers, and doesn’t know if they remember an untrained, ill-prepared interim president who once shook hands with a Cylon. He doesn’t know if anyone will remember his name in twenty years, but he finds pleasure in marking the plains of this Earth with the signs of his passage.
The universe wasn’t big enough for Kara Thrace, but he’ll write his love for her on this world because it is all he has. Lee doesn’t really talk to anyone besides himself, but sometimes, on nights like this, he shouts to the clear sky, “I love Kara Thrace and I don’t care who frakking knows!”
And sometimes he thinks that she can hear him.
