I always get so choked up during the opening ceremonies, but last night was especially touching. But our TV cut out right as the National Anthem started, then popped back on without sound. We were without audio for the whole next number where the dancers unrolled the map and painted with their feet. Was there music during that scene or was it story-telling? I wanted so badly to know what that was about!

It was pretty amazing, wasn't it? I enjoyed it too -- and I'm looking forward to watching all the events as the week goes on.

I'm thinking of you today -- I'll be around, if you have a chance to call. I know weekends are tough, though :)

I totaly agree! I watched the opening ceremonies last night and I was in tears the whole time. I am used to pomp and circumstance, shiny lights and loud sounds displays of power. This totally different--this was art! It was so beautiful to have segments dedicated to wind, to the way a drop of water ripples in a still pond, and to the beauty of human art in perfect form. It was amazing to me! I think it was an amazing re-introduction to their country to the world.

It was lovely! And just the way you describe it makes it all come back to mind so vividly...you must be a writer. :)
