Hello LJ friends... it's been awhile. :D A couple of things have happened since my last post (Feb/12). I thought it was maybe time for a public update.

The past four months have been eventful. I had exams in March and June, and I am now just one year from completing the education requirements for my accounting designation. I have already put in almost three years of full-time work and part-time school, year-round, so saying I am ready for the end is putting it mildly.

Work continues to be a fun mix of the routine and challenging. I have one colleague in my team at the moment, but we're in the process of replacing the second person, so I should be back up to two shortly. I'm hopeful that this will allow me more time to focus less on the daily routine, and more on projects that are geared to making the routine more efficient.

There are several people, or groups, that provide me with the social and emotional support I need to deal with my hectic work/school schedule. There's been a lot of changes to this group in the past four months, which has been challenging. As most of you know, my grandmother died in February, after several months of cancer treatment. One of my closest friends moved to LA. My lecture schedule conflicted with my home church, so I missed three months of weekly meetups with some of my greatest encouragers. I didn't know anyone in the class, so I always studied alone. The last three months were pretty bleak on the personal front - but things have improved quite a bit since early June, with the new term. My regular study buddy is in my course, so we're back to weekly meetups. I'm on a first-name basis with many of the staff and evening/weekend regulars at the local cafe, so I have a bit of "family" there. I even have a friend from church who is also in work/study mode, so we often study there together. However, he'll soon be moving out of the area. One of my closest friends will soon be moving to England. I guess we'll see if the next four months bring as much change as the last four.

I continue to read the news, and I've been particularly interested in the Quebec tuition debates and Toronto city council this year. But, I don't post my opinions here much anymore... it takes far too much time to prepare a coherent thought on it, and I need to reserve that brain power for school.

About a week or two ago, I discovered that the Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat movie is on YouTube. I have since watched it at least 10 times. I might buy it, since I'm getting tired of skipping the YouTube ads. I don't think my appreciation for this musical can be overstated. I saw it 2, 3, maybe 4? times during its long run Toronto in the early 90s. I remember being very excited when Donny Osmond was cast as Joseph for the film, since he was in the Toronto cast, and then never hearing about the movie ever again. I am so happy to have re-found it. Other distractions lately include the BBC miniseries "Little Dorrit" and SYTYCD. I had started to watch Slings and Arrows, having heard that it's one of the best Canadian TV shows EVER, but I got sidetracked. I will probably start that up again sometime soon.

I think that's probably all for right now.
