This week, I turned 30. Unlike some 30+ folks I know, I did not have a total freakout about turning 30. I'm actually pretty cool with. My 20s were awesome, I had some great years in there, and I'm looking forward to what the 30s have to offer.
I had a small party with a few close friends on Friday. I went to a 90s dance party with two of them after, which was a good trip down memory lane. We had Thanksgiving over the weekend, so I saw both sides of the family. My home church sang happy birthday and had pie for me on my actual birthday (Tuesday).
I decided to spend a little bit of extra money on myself this week. I picked up four new sweaters, to replace some of my older fall/winter tops. I bought a new purse, since the one I use is falling apart and I've been trying replace it for about a year. I bought a pair of slim-fitting gloves that will hopefully keep my hands protected on days when it isn't quite cold enough to warrant mittens (people look at you funny when it's about freezing, the sun is shining, and you're wearing mittens, trust me). My umbrella broke on Wednesday, so I replaced that too. I bought a new pair of earrings for the first time in 5+ years. I bought a pedicure kit because it was on sale for less than $10. I bought a box of Zombie Sour Patch kids, ostensibly in case any kids come to my door to trick or treat, but really because I love Sour Patch Kids and this is the only way you can get grape flavour.
Finally, I am probably going to get the new iPhone. I might wait to see what the Galaxy S2 is like. I'm not really in a rush. My current phone still works (passably).
Editor's Note: Apparently 30 is the birthday when you start talking about the gifts you bought yourself because nobody else buys gifts for you anymore. It's not true, I did receive a few gifts - chocolates, chocolate cake, and a gift card to my favourite burrito place. :D
