Keep in mind, some parents may be doing the shopping because they're *paying* for it, and they live too far away from their actual student/schedules don't mesh well enough to do the shopping together. *Shrugs*

I love kneaded erasers, but they'd get me in so much trouble because I'd sit there in class going "knead knead knead" rather than paying attention to light and shadow or whatever the hell I was *supposed* to be paying attention to.

Expect to see more of that rather than less, I'm afraid- I hear on NPR that some jobs are starting to offer joint job interviews for parents and their child together, and job orientation fairs for parents when their *children* are the ones getting the job. And we're talking college degree jobs, not Wal-mart or Target after high school and on weekend hours.

Parenting in general seems to be moving in the "Let me do that for you, you might do it wrong!" direction.

Yeah, it could be that. I got the impression from the parents I dealt with that the kid was in the same area/at home, though.

Kneaded erasers rule. They're so great for effects with little details (tear off a bit, put it on the end of your pencil for tiny areas) and they're just fun to touch!

Apparently, mice find them tasty, too. I was cleaning out an area of my room once and found an old kneaded eraser I'd forgotten about underneath a bunch of junk and it was all chewed, with little eraser-nuddles all around it. It took me a minute or two to figure out what had happened - then it dawned on me "Oh, yeah we have mice."

We don't see the little things too often, but our cat is ineffectual in catching them. She plays with them and lets them go.
