Well, not as a whole...
Yes! Your lovable dictator (that would be me) sometimes does incredibly stupid things!
I was editing and writing today and decided I needed some fresh air. I slipped on a pair of flip flops to take a walk down the street. So far, so good.
Did I mention that flip flops are the worst shoes you can wear when exploring nature? Sure, they're fine for walking along a paved road, but I just had to take that little trail that goes down by the local creek. I didn't think there would be any harm in it, a non-intensive little "walk around the creek, see if I can find cute frogs, turn around, go back to the road."
I didn't notice it until I was almost home, but apparently, I stepped on a pointy rock or something. I noticed a pain in my right big toe, noticed *skin peeled away* and this big GOUGE out of my skin.
The wound didn't bleed and I have it bandaged now to try to keep myself from stepping on it, but... ow, it hurts when I put even the smallest amount of pressure there.
The even stupider thing was that, when I lived in Arizona, I used to wear flip flops in the desert all the time, going off to explore a patch off the main road. Sometimes, yes, I'd get cactus in my feet.
It's like ... I didn't learn!
So, remember kids, any time you're going to walk out in nature, along an unpaved trail, *even for a minute or two because you want to go see something* -- Wear real shoes.
I hope I won't have to limp too much tommorow at work.
real life,
nature,
ouch!
