Working Weekend:
Lynn and I had a weekend to ourselves so naturally we used it as a work weekend. I would have loved to have done nothing but things needed doing that we've been putting off for weeks now. We went through several boxes and culled out magazines that we'll be giving back to his ex and cleaning out the bedroom of some boxes. We also washed the sheets and hung up a striped fabric at the head of the bed to serve as a visual headboard. The room seems larger and brighter now, plus it's feeling more like a bedroom rather than a room of boxes. We moved the big radio into the living room and set it up as well, now we have music in every room of the apartment. Though I'd still be happier to have my digital music back, the external ate my hard drive when we moved in here.
Friday night we enjoyed a fantastic tribute to Elvis by Donny Edwards and the band Fever. Sundance Head sang a couple of times as well and wow! He's got some wonderful pipes in him! Listening to Donny Edwards though ... if you closed your eyes it was just like listening to Elvis sing and talk and when you opened your eyes he was right there in front of you with the same mannerisms and moves. A three hour show with three costume changes and pictures and autographs afterward. It was a knockout performance that was simply amazing to watch and experience. You could really lose yourself and feel that you were back in time.
There's just something about live music, the way the bass and the melody twine around each other and lodge in your chest. The way the music gets inside you and vibrates you from the inside out is something that you just can't recreate. I have always loved live music and this is why. There's a connection, a deliciously almost carnal excitement that exists only when the band is there in front of you and you can almost see the waves of notes rushing toward you and washing over you.
Or maybe I'm the only one that happens to. *wink*
