Great tutorial and not as many steps I would have thought. did you go over her hair with the sharpening tool in that first one. It looks like you may have, or perhaps you didn't smooth the hair out after you sharpened it. Just the hair makes a big difference between the first one you did and the one you did for the tut. Both are gorgeous though.
I'm snagging that aqua gradient if you don't mind.
Oh! I remember now that I was on a hair sharpening kick. I've sharpened the hair once more. The face is still more muted, but I'm not going to drive myself crazy getting all the overlay and soft light layers exactly right :).
And the aqua gradient isn't mine, so snag away if you like. I love that gradient. It has another brother in my gradient collection, too. Both are brilliant when iconmaking :).

I find that I always go back to the same color textures and gradients quite often because they look good no matter what you use them on. That aqua gradient glows. It's really pretty.

And when I'm working on icons for tutorials in GIMP, I just save layers as new images as I go, and save the final result as a .xcf file :-)

Great result! I love the word "depravity". The wall on the side gives it a nice finish!
