I'm in an odd, kind of melancholy mood right now, which is weird considering my day was kind of awesome. Went for a long walk, came home and ate lunch on my porch while reading I Shall Wear Midnight, then curled up on the couch and continued reading in a sunbeam.
Shot my productivity all to hell, but it was just a really nice day anyway. I had been planning on reading The Lies of Locke Lamora because the third book comes out in like...a week?...and wanted to reread the first two, but I couldn't find the book anywhere. I'd thought it was a flaw in my system, but turns out, no, I lent it to
ddrpolaris awhile back and forgot that. Of course, it was driving me nuts because I knew I had seen the book recently and on a shelf--which was true, I had. It was just on one of his shelves.
Though I really do need to go through and reorganize our collection. A bunch of books got scattered around to make shelf space for stuff and now there's almost no organization to the books in the two main rooms of the house. Plus, there are two empty shelves in my extended closet room downstairs, which just messes with my personal feng shui. Plus the books in out nightstand need to be overhauled...
When I'm done, no one will still be able to find anything, but I don't care. I'll know they're organized. By the way,
kadath, from what I heard of your system, if makes perfect sense to me.
I also need to go through and compare the books in the house against the books in our catalogue. Partially to find any books we haven't scanned yet, but also to figure out which books of ours are missing. Some are written in our loaned books pad, but there are a bunch that are just gone. Grrr.
On the plus side, all this talk of books is putting me into a better mood.
There's other stuff to write about (recipes, my upcoming birthday, Intercon, Florida trip) but I think I'll save those for other posts. I need to start updating this LJ more. I miss it.
