So, I've just been reminded that NaNoWriMo is just around the corner. Between term papers, a prospectus, and a LARP I'm going to have very, very little time to write.
That being said, I'm going to try anyway. Mostly because I hate myself need the discipline. I'm thinking of instituting bribes rules for myself, a carrot and stick approach. No snacks, sweets, candy, or baked goods on days I do not write. On days where I write less than one thousand words, I only get a piece of candy or something. Nothing major and no more than one. On days when I write between one and two thousand words, I can have one slice of pie, or one bowl of ice cream, etc etc. On days I break two thousand (usually only occurs the first few days of November) I can eat whatever I want.
If I finish in time, I will treat myself to dinner at the 111 Chophouse, and then go to Coldstone Creamery for dessert.
I can also choose to forgo my reward on one day to enjoy it on another. Thanksgiving, for example.
I will either finish my damn novel, or I will lose weight. Either way, I win. If, by some miracle, both occur...I don't even know. I get to go to Disney Land World or something.
weighty issues,
it seemed like a good idea at the time,
