So, I got this email today:
Dear Ms.:
I am happy to offer you a Graduate Student appointment with a Teaching Assistantship for the academic year 2007-08. Under this appointment, you will receive full tuition remission and a stipend of $10,000 (subject to U.S. tax) for the academic year September to May. This financial aid does not apply to the summer months.
The M.A. program for a Teaching Assistant is a full-time, two-year course of study involving three courses per semester for four semesters, including Teaching Assistant assignments each semester. In both years, one course each semester will be devoted to pedagogy. In your second year, we expect most of your remaining courses to be devoted to the M.A. thesis. One of the three courses taken in the first semester is the required course Introduction to Graduate Study (ENG 340), and one of the three courses taken in the last semester is Master’s Thesis (ENG 397). Registration for the required year-long, non-credit course, Departmental Colloquium (ENG 390), usually occurs in the last semester of course work. Completion of the thesis is expected by August of the second year.
I hope you will be able to accept this appointment. Enclosed is an expense worksheet to help you determine your living and educational expenses, along with information regarding TA responsibilities. Please accept or decline our offer in writing as soon as possible. If you have any questions or would like additional information, please do not hesitate to contact Terri Rutkiewicz, Program Assistant, Graduate Studies in English, at 508-793-7630 or engma@clarku.edu.
Sincerely,
, Director

I'm in!!!!! And they're paying me for it!!!!!
We completely need to celebrate this. And my birthday. I'm thinking early Friday evening, before Toph and Janet have to go home to CT. I'd like to go to Red Robin, in Blackstone Valley for . This way, I can continue my celebration with a trip to the bookstore, a free ice cream from Coldstone Creamery (they sent me a coupon) and probably catch a movie, once they release the showtimes for Friday. Dinner at 7:30, and agreeing to go to dinner does not mean that you have to do all of the activities I have planned.
But I do hope to see you all there. Reply to let me know if you're interested, so I can get a semi-accurate headcount, okay?
Yay!!!!!!
firetruck! firetruck! firetruck!,
cool stuff 4 me,
