The sweet is simple. Trish comes home of the 27th - next Monday. We'll have to have twice-daily nurse visits for quite a while but the hospital staff have accepted our position that if all she is doing is staying in bed, she might as well do it at home where she can be happy. Only 160 hours to go .....
The not so sweet was improved by the nice comments which acompanied it. I didn't make the Victorian Hockey team but the "bad luck young lady" letter of Hockey Victoria was accompanied with the official report of the selection committee, as follows.
#60 WATTS, Olivia (Frankston)
Goalkeeper. Impressive trial and showed she is ready for state representation. Exceptional hand and stick skills, good to very good in all other areas. Trialled in her age group against the current Victorian and Australian goalkeeper and missed selection to that player, yet missed selection only on a split vote. Strong, aggressive, skilful and well liked by her peers. Comments made in post-trial player reviews were all highly positive. With continued form she will play for Victoria in coming years. To be invited to regular supplimentary squad training sessions in case of injury to selected Goalkeeper.
Trial result: NOT selected (Supplimentary list, emergency reserve)
I'm pretty proud of that.
I hope I don't get a game this year; I don't want to walk into someone else's position because they get hurt. My chance will come in some future year.
Of the 9 Frankston girls that trialled, five were selected. My warmest congratulations to Deb, Frin, Chitts, Sherie and Gina, who all did so well and deserved the spots. Bad luck to Linda, Sara and Karen who, like me, will have to pay to get in and watch them.
Now I'm looking forward to next year's trials even more~!
