Some very wonderful news to share

Jun 17, 2005 00:28

I apologise for the lengthy absence. I've been knocked around by a persistant virus brought on, says my doctor, through complete physical and emotional exhaustion. A blood test has showed that I have Glandular Fever, and have had it for long enough that I've passed through the infectious period already and am now in recovery. As a result I've spent the last three days in bed doing little other than sleep and it has helped enormously. That's not the good news though.

I has a bone marrow biopsy at Peter McCallum Cancer Hospital today (awful and painful and I hope you never have to have one) but the results were what I have prayed for. After 14 weeks of chemotherapy, I am now officially in REMISSION. I have survived cancer~!!! I've been warned that it may recur one day, but I'll face that if the day ever comes.

My white cells are now present in normal concentrations and my red cell count is rising back to normal. My blood chemistry is still all over the place and will take a few months to stabilise (mostly multiple vitamin and mineral malabsorption problems caused by the chemo damage to my liver and kidneys) but I am no longer required to have chemotherapy. From here I can look forward to becoming fitter and stronger once more and I'll start to feel better once the body systems re-adjust.

All thanks to Her for being with me through this, and my blessings and thanks to each one of you for the love and support you have shown me. I couldn't have done this without you. I really mean that. You have all been wonderful.

Blessings and love ......... Liv
