N64 Got, Retroing all up in this business

Nov 16, 2010 23:09

I managed to snag an N64 with a couple great games, two controllers, a rumble pack, and a memory expansion for quite cheap (all the games below and two very good controllers for only $45). I'm working on building a small but awesome retro game library. Here's what I've got so far, and what is on its way:

N64
- Banjo Kazooie
- Banjo Tooie
- Star Fox 64

(those pictures are a little old - the only complete NES game I have then is Mega Man 3)

And I'm totally a sucker so yeah, I'm buying Mario All-Stars for the Wii. It's completely dumb that they didn't include SMW, but it's for Mario's 25th birthday (he is as old as I am.) so I'm okay with it.

I should really make sure I am done talking before I hit post comment. I hope you do not hate me.

DUDE YOU HAVE SMAS+W!!! That's one of the harder SNES games to get! High five.

Man, I have so many games this site would take me forever, ha ha. Baby steps I guess...
Plus I cycle through them (at least X360 games) so fast I'd have to be constantly updated. Today, for example, I'm trading back like 6 or 7 games.
You have Goldeneye! Awesome. And I can totally understand the NES craze. It's totally easy when games are only $3-6 a pop. My old roommate had an NES and over a hundred games, and just about every other day he'd come home with another one he found somewhere.
DANGEROUS. But awesome.

Yeah what's this Goozex thing, some kinda crazy internet swap machine?

RF Generation has been the primary force keeping me from selling ANY GAMES, EVER for the past few months. I used to be kind of crazy about it (like trading in my DS for Guitar Hero Rocks the 80s, WHICH I DO NOT REGRET IN THE LEAST)

Yeah, goozex.com. It's just a game trading site, but the idea is the value of a game going IN is the same as the value of it going OUT so you don't get shafted in getting $1 for your $30 game (though games do depreciate over time).
I basically started by dumping all my old, crappy PC/PS2 games on it, and then I had enough points to get stuff I wanted. Now I have enough stored up that I can essentially trade games in and out. For example, I got Fable 3 about two weeks ago (blek) and now it's going back for the same value I paid for it (minus me paying shipping to the next guy who wants it).
Pretty neat, especially since they added retro games. If you have bad games or games you don't want any more, I'd suggest it over Gamestop or any other franchised game-trade store. It probably has saved me several hundred dollars over the past few years as well.

This is brilliant! I'm totally gonna check this out when I am not sleep-deprived. Man the internet is a heck of a thing.

I remember taking a massive bag of old jewel-cased PC games in to EB Games (back when they still bothered with PC games) and them not taking a single damn thing. I had NECRODOME, bitches! The only time I've used EB Games since they got REAL terrible about trades (4 or 5 years ago?) they gave me $4 for Smash Bros. Melee. I will never, ever trade in a game at EB Games again.

That sucks. The minimum value for ANY game on goozex is 100 points (about $5), so even if you have a totally crappy game you can get at least $5 in game-trade value out of it (assuming somebody wants it).
Like just looking, Smash Bros. Melee is 250 points (about $12). I got Diddy Kong Racing and Blast Corps for 100 points each, so you essentially could dump Melee, get those games, and still have 50 points to spare.
If you join, say Shadowiii (or theuselessgod(at)gmail.com) sent you. I get a free token. :P
Yeah, should have probably mentioned that: to GET a game, you have to pay Goozex $1 per trade. I'm guessing that's how the site itself gets money, but since they have sales on the trade tokens all the time (I pay about $.50 a trade) it's not a bad cover.

I joined and mentioned you. Not sure if I'll use it much... though I might trade in my old PC games, all of my console games are part of my Hoard now, so they might stick around. But it's good to know about!
