Hello, my dear flist/circle! You are amazing, and I appreciate you all. I hope those of you who are located in the areas affected by the extreme weather conditions have been holding up alright. I can't even imagine what you must be going through, but my thoughts are with you.

I updated my IG a few times since I created it, including a video and recipe of bananas foster overnight oats I made.

Sooo, who watched Rent Live? Was it ridiculous? Yes. Did I enjoy it, overall? Also, yes. Why? Because I have been all about Jordan Fisher and Vanessa Hudgens for years now, and I enjoyed the choice of staging for "Seasons of Love." I understand why the networks want rock concert-style cheering (you're not in a boring ole theater, nohohooo, THIS IS A ONE-NIGHT-ONLY EVENT BROUGHT TO YOU ONLY BY FOX, WOOOOOO!) and the crowd is directed to cheer that way, but it looks and sounds awkward and/or annoying to us viewers. Another negative, some of the panning shots made me a bit dizzy. One plus is that my mom keeps saying, "Speeeeeak," to me.

I am also nearly done fully moving into our new place! My father's health took a turn for the worst just after we moved in the last half of last year, so I only ever had time to set up the basics in the main areas and my dad's room. I was mostly living out of boxes in my own room until he passed, and after all the effort it took to organize funeral arrangements in November, I was totally burnt out.

My personal project for December was getting all the holiday decorations and the wall art on display by Christmas. I got it all done with two days to spare, whew! And I knew by the time the new year rolled around, I would be ready and eager to finish assembling my own furniture and putting my decorative objects on display (oh, how I have missed you, armillary!).

Last week, all my clothes and shoes finally ended up out of their boxes and into their proper places, and yesterday I finished assembling the last piece of furniture (an extra cabinet for my bathroom!). It just needs shelf liners before I fill it up with my box of hair products, etc. After the bathroom is done, I'll move on to properly organizing my desk (everything is currently willy-nilly), deciding which random things I want in the back of my closet or under my bed, and then get my own wall art up (the main living areas have larger pieces equally spaced, but in my room I'm going for salon-style gallery walls). Then, I have to tackle the garage.

Well, it looks like I'm driving to Vegas in a week and a half and seeing the Backstreet Boys in concert there, LOOOOLLLLLL. A relative of mine scheduled her vacation for the second week of February, which is also her birthday, and she wanted to have An Experience. We had been brainstorming activities, but nothing jumped out at us as The Experience to have for that particular week. Then we saw a commercial about Christina Aguilera's upcoming residency in Las Vegas, and she perked up. "A concert in Vegas? Are there any tickets left?" There were dates with tickets but not at the best times of year for us, so we expanded our search. Lady Gaga? Maybe. I started reading off other acts, and when I got to BSB, she decided that's the one. So, I got the tickets and booked a room in the same hotel as the concert, Planet Hollywood, for the sake of convenience (I would have preferred to stay someplace a bit nicer, but Birthday Girl wanted to be able to just go down the elevator from our room to see the show then go right back up to sleep, so Birthday Girl gets her wish).

I've never driven to Vegas myself, but my brother says it's fun. He has gone to Vegas countless times with his friends and stayed everywhere and eaten at just about every buffet on and off the Strip, but the last time the family drove there was before I started driving. I remember the first time my family went to Vegas. There was a hole in the ground where the Excalibur was going to be. I was super young at the time, and we just went for a day trip to Hoover Dam and peek into the Golden Nugget. There was seriously nothing else to do. Except maybe go to Circus Circus, but Little Me thought that place looked creepy. The last time I went was at least 15 years ago, and that time we flew.

Anyone have any food recommendations near the center of the Strip? We want to go to at least one buffet and one finer restaurant.
