The series 1 finale of Being Human aired on BBC America yesterday. I have such an unholy love for that show. George, Mitchell and Annie are so incredibly adorable, and I want to smoosh them. I can't even pick a favorite of the trio because they're each wonderful in their own way, and their relationship is so sweet and supportive.
A few hours after I posted
my last entry, I remembered one more song used in film/TV for Friday's
fannish5, which I added to the end (but I'm definitely stopping now. Absolutely definitely). So, if you missed it, check out the last scene from 1x01 of The Black Donnellys, which was an amazing pilot. Ah, the things one does for family. And as I mentioned in that entry, in that show we had a Band of Brothers/Generation Kill connection with Kirk Acevedo and Billy Lush!
You're looking well, Alexander Skarsgård.
Saw G.I. Joe today. I went into the theatre expecting impossible action and endless explosions, and that's exactly what I got. It was completely ridiculous, and yet, I was thoroughly entertained. Most of the dialogue was atrocious, and the acting was often OTT, but again, that wasn't a surprise. There were also a lot of flashbacks, an overabundance of holograms, and did they really need to refer to the "Joes" that much? Dennis Quaid, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Chris Eccleston, especially, got to ham it up, and I noticed that Director Stephen Sommers brought a number of his friends from The Mummy & The Mummy Returns over, too. Channing Tatum, poor thing, couldn't act his way out of a paper bag, but he isn't offensive, so I'm not gonna dog him too much about it. Arnold Vosloo needed to stop whistling because it drove me nuts, and while I love Jonathan Pryce, he just didn't make a believable American President. I have never been a Sienna Miller fan, but I was pleasantly surprised by her performance, though I agree with other people's criticism about her character's motivation. Marlon Wayans, too, made a good Ripcord. GUH SCARLETT. She is totally awesome. I am officially a Rachel Nichols fangirl. I loved her as Gaila in Star Trek, but I love Scarlett even more so. And when it comes to pairings, thank goodness they didn't go with Duke/Scarlett because this Scarlett would not give Duke the time of day, IMHO. I am, however, totally down with Scarlett/Ripcord. I also loved the BFFness of Duke & Ripcord and Scarlett & Snake Eyes, as well as the slashiness of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. So,
now you know... (and after you watch a few of those, you have to watch the
parody PSAs for the LULZ)
