Group picture of The Goonies, all grown up.
First
picture from Iron Man 2.
Looks like
we'll have to wait a week or two until we find out whether Chuck is returning next season, but NBC has ordered an additional 13 episodes of Southland. \o/ Hmm,
Nikki Finke says that Chuck, Medium and Law & Order have all been renewed, but I'll believe it when I hear it from NBC.
Thanks to
cape_in_hand for passing along the news that
Timothy Olyphant has been cast in a pilot for FX!
More Star Trek pictures and
scans of the Entertainment Weekly article. SO CLOOOOOSE.
While the score for Star Trek is nothing to jump up and down about (there are moments of magic (several sequences in the End Credits really hit my musical kinks, for instance), and the main melody is memorable, if not my favorite, but for the most part ::shrug::), it does tickle me greatly to hear the subtle bongo in one of the pieces.
So, about X-Men Origins: Wolverine...do you want the good news or the bad news first? ;-) I probably liked and disliked an equal number of things about this movie. The action sequences were completely ridiculous, yet still cool. I really liked the credit sequence. When Wade Wilson showed his skills in the beginning, that was particularly awesome, as was his smart mouth. Agent Zero's another one of my favorites, or he was until he killed the old people! Now, that was just unnecessary! ILU KEVIN DURAND! The hobbit sure got the short end of the stick. ::rimshot:: ::facepalm:: PROF X IZ PASTEDE ON YAY! Yep, some of the CGI was cringe-worthy, as was some of the direction and editing.
I love Hugh, I do, but when he shared scenes with Liev, more often than not, my eye went to Liev. Move over shirtless/nekkid Wolverine, I need to see Liev! Liev is such a MOVIE STAR and just on a plateau of Awesome unattainable by the rest. I also can't help but wonder if Hugh got headaches from all that constant eyebrow action. He sure did a lot of heavy breathing, too.
ACCENTS: ::sighs heavily:: Where to begin? Hugh's Australian came out the play several times. But Taylor honey, what was that? He had a good look, I'll give him that, and he's not a bad actor, but the accent. It seemed like he was making a marginal effort in his first scene (and let's not even get into the logic of him coming out to the alley to fight Logan when he could/should have just skedaddled, though I'm thinking the writers might just have been unable to come up with a better idea of how and when to showcase Gambit's moves), but in the plane and on the island he seemed to have given up and gone with a nearly-nonexistent general sort-of Southern accent. Gambit's heritage, and thus his accent, is an important part of the character, and since he didn't have it, I feel as though it was almost another character I was watching here. A cool character, granted, but not Remy LeBeau. :-\
Overall, the parental units and I agreed that it was entertaining, and we're glad we saw it on the big screen.
It was 1:30pm and neither my mom nor I had eaten anything all day, so we were too starving to stay until the end of the credits. I've seen the "Shhh" ending and the "drinking to remember" one online, but can't find the third "who are you supposed to be?" ending, which is the one I want to see most.
One of the trailers we saw before Wolverine was for District 9. Does anyone know anything about that film? It said, "Peter Jackson Presents..." That was the first I'd heard of it.
And now I'm pooped. TV talk next time.
