I was going to go into SGA's "Miller's Crossing," but there's no reason for me to echo the squee over those two scenes or go over my quibbles when everyone else has already done so and much more eloquently, so instead I'll just rec a few episode tags:

Good episode. They eased up a bit on the tension from last week and so the episode had more earnest conversation, but I have to say I'm glad we were given a slight reprieve. I know that the suspense will be back up to astronomical levels by the end. Everything's starting to come together, though I'm still just as freaked out. The highlights tonight were Dexter and Rita slowly coming back together, but mostly Dexter and Doakes' conversations.
Lundy: Don't ask, don't tell?
Deb: Works in the military.
Lundy: Not really.
::laughs:: Oh, the flashbacks. This time with funny Dex and Deb hair and dorky glasses on Deb. Great use of flashbacks tonight. And oh the revelations with Harry! ZOMG! And Dexter talks to the Chief, another one of the few times that he isn't a total jack.
Dexter, Rita and the kids: I love the fact that Astor loves CNN. I also love it when Dexter shares what's bothering him with Rita.
Rita: We can just...hang.
Dexter: Like a sloth.
Dexter & the ladies in his life: I'm so pleased that Dexter realizes all the people who are counting on him and how devastated they would be if he was found out. Dexter may be oblivious to many things, but I'm really glad he's trying so hard to be free not just for his sake but for those who care about him.
Doakes: All of his aliases and old hairdos. This was an episode full of silly hairdos.
Masuka: So, Doakes called him Periwinkle. Aww. ;-) And "Hair-pulling may not be very manly, but it is effective." And how would you know this, Masuka?
Lila: You. You horrible thing. Jaime Murray is so fabulous at sinking to such levels! Poor Angel. Poor poor Angel. Dexter's really not going to like Lila messing with one of his few friends. And in the preview for next week, it looks like Deb has something to say to her, too. I wish Deb would sock her one.
And lastly, Dexter and Doakes: WOW. Just WOW. They do such a great job of pissing each other off. Erik King and MCH really play amazingly well off each other. Their scenes just sparkle and crack.
Dexter: I wish you the best of luck.
I really love with they're doing with Doakes, character-wise. Even though he doesn't like Dexter or what he does, he's starting to get him, what motivates him, and Dexter, in turn, shows how much he understands Doakes. I love how even though Doakes is caged, he's still trying to convince Dexter not to kill the Snow Guy, trying to bank on Dexter's Code stopping him. I don't know if I've ever seen Doakes more sympathetic than now. It's pretty amazing for this show to be able to straddle that line, as they've both done bad things, but neither of them is really the villain. Dexter can feel free to kill Lila, but please please PLEASE don't kill Doakes! My only hope is that there's another way out of this than that. In a perfect world, I'd want them to team up, but I know that's not possible. ::wistful sigh::
Man, does anyone know spoilers about this? This is the one show that I don't hear many spoilers about, but it's the one I want to know about the most!
Link time!
ETA: Ooooo, that LSU/Ohio State BCS Championship is going to be so awesome!
