So Revoltech Starscream finally came in the mail yesterday. He's so tiny. XD And Japanese. And I made Ari very, very happy. Since she couldn't/wasn't allowed to pre-order Dr. Horrible for me, we settled on her taking me to Comix Connection this weekend and she'd pay for a bunch of comics for me. We are so getting the TFA: Arrival ones. I need to start making it a weekly habit of going there like the little geek I am. I haven't been there since...Free Comic Book Day. I wonder if they have the Serenity: Better Days collection...I hope so~

But obviously since I was going to get DH no matter what, I ended up doing the pre-ordering anyway. Call it my little Christmas present to myself. Ari and I will so have a Horrible-a-thon when it comes. Because we love it. A lot. Because it's awesome like that. IMAGINE, NO PAUSES OR BREAKS OR COMMERCIALS BETWEEN ACTS. And, of course, Commentary: The Musical. XD

It was either comic books or Wall-E, so. >> *puts the latter on her list that she's working on*

So I DID in fact start working on my wish list. I have a lot of games. But I ran across a geeky dilemma.

So when I was last at a bookstore, I had grabbed the first book of the three part series, Star Trek: Destinies. I had heard it was good, so I checked it out. It meshes post-Nemesis TNG and DS9 and Voyager, but what I didn't know was that it also meshed Enterprise. How did I know this? Because I saw Captain Erika Hernandez on the cover. :| And was confused. What have they done to the Columbia NX-02?! I will find out.

So I had to go onto Memory Alpha and Beta to check them out. I could ask for all three books. And probably will have to get them eventually whether I get them for Christmas or not. But here's the problem. It continues a previous storyline from a previous book. And also comes after and makes references to other books. And there are going to be books that deal with the fallout in various eras. And then I found other Trek books mentioned that I remembered I wanted to read. (Also, some kind of TNG reboot? I'll have to look that up.) So if I want Destinies, I might have to get a bunch of other books to even comprehend. :| I was reminded that I'd always wanted to read Articles of the Federation, because that administration is mentioned anyway, and I'll seriously at least HAVE to get the previous book Greater Than the Sum (which I've also heard was good) since the plotline from that is continued in Destinies. New Frontiers is apparently name-dropped in it, but I'm so not going to bother with that series. XD And then there's the Titan...

Okay, so if I get just those...y'know...five books...here's the problem then. What if I don't like them? What if I don't remember who's who or what's what? I never was into DS9. I don't actually know what the Dominion War was all about, just that it happened, and it was big, and my brother loved the huge multi-ship epic battles. What if I still can't follow them anyway? Okay, that all sounds stupid, but follow me here.

Destinies is preceeded by Greater Than the Sum which is preceeded by Before Dishonor which is based upon Vendetta (which granted I would ignore because apparently it's old, looking at the cover) and Resistance (another post-Nemesis book). Thankfully from there I don't think I'd have to go back any farther. So really it's a question of 'do I want to ask for a fuckton of Trek books I might not be able to get into anyway', so. We'll see.

...It's really all based upon the fact that Destinies has ties to the Enterprise era, which means I must read it, because of that fact. Basically.

I'll also have to trudge to the basement. XD I know we have like a fuckton of Trek books, but I don't believe any of them are even from this century, they're probably all from the 90's. And. I won't read any Shatner. I'm pretty sure mum's got a good collection of stuff Shatner wrote. I will not. I refuse.

GOD I DON'T HAVE ROOM FOR ANY BOOKS ANYWAY D: BAH HUMBUGGERY

books, star trek, giant fighting robots, christmas, shadow is the queen of geeks, gifts
