1. The trailer for
Julie Taymor's The Tempest
has been released, and holy crap, y'all. So much awesome. Ben Whishaw! Djimon Hansou! Helen frickin' Mirren! My heart is aflutter.
2. A friend sent me a link to
The Mongoliad, a web-based experiment in collaborative story telling. It involves Neal Stephenson and Greg Bear, who I've heard good things about, and it sounds like a cool concept, at least. Check it ou.
3. Because everyone needs a little insanity thrown in with the awesome,
this editorial was run in our school paper. It's intended, I believe, as an impassioned defense of the choice to remain abstinent until marriage, which I get and think is generally cool. What it comes across as, in my opinion, is more of an object lesson in what sexual repression can do to your psyche.
4. Wash away the residue of the crazy with
an interview with Nathan Fillion, in which he says many smart and funny things.
4a. If there was any doubt of Captain Tightpants' inherent awesomeness, see him in
the best photobomb ever. I don't know if I pity or envy that fan.
4b. Not a link, but a notice of impending cool things: Next week's episode of Castle will apparently delve into the terrifying subculture of Steampunk, and the title of the episode is "Punked". Please tell me someone else watches Castle so that I can squee about this.
5. Not that your minds are cleansed, burn
this commercial into them. There is no nudity, sex, violence, or disturbing images. There's just David Hasselhoff... and an oscillating fan.
