Wow...
So I'm in the Amherst computer lab working on a project for a teacher. I got hired to build a website for "Hampshire Historians", pretty much like building a department website, except for that Hampshire's structure makes it impossible for said Departments to exist. It's a smattering of history-related faculty (pretty much) who wanted to have their own website outside of the (very user-unfriendly) Hampshire one so that people who want to do history at Hampshire have a resource to know what's available to them.
Anyway, total writers block on the subject, so to get ideas I googled "history department", critiqued what I found and went from there.
I pretty much just wanted to share that the UCLA one is one of the best designed things I've ever come across. It's like the German engineered car of websites. Just efficient as hell. It makes the Hampshire general website look like a Yugo to its BMW. Just thought I'd share, because, seriously, nice site. I kind of want to send a congratulatory card.
