The drug store by my house is closing, so they were having a 50% off sale. That meant, obviously, that I had to go and buy shit that I didn't need. Like purple, glittery mascara and a mango sorbet candle. The candle smells nice, and I figure that I can wear the mascara to the Placebo concert.
Music!
Y'know? I've never associated a song with Melo by himself? Right now, when I write him and Eddie and JR and AI, I listen to Nellie Furtado and Timbaland feat. FoB and, um, Prince? But there's not this one single song that I can always go back to when I need to dig into Melo's character. I bring this up, naturally, because of Michael Phelps (ha) and how I always wrote him to one or two very specific songs. "The Taste of Ink," and "Signals Over the Air," mostly. Sometimes "Blue and Yellow."
Wow. How long ago was THAT?
horizon_greene and I have been feeling nostalgic and melancholy about the Olympics.
Anyway, because it has been raining/snowing all day, I give to you two slightly sad, summertime songs:
Rise Against --
Swing Life Away.
I've been here so long I think that its time to move
The winter's so cold summer's over too soon
let's pack our bags and settle down where palm trees grow
I've got some friends some that I hardly know
But we've had some times I wouldn't trade for the world
We chase these days down with talks of the places that we will go
I think that I've put up this song before, but it bears repeating because it is that good. Copeland --
California.
I miss the way you sing low
So I can't hear your voice over
The radio in my car
But you knew every word they sang
You know just the right thing to say when the
Distance rips us farther and farther and farther away
I'll see you soon
If you're coming back this way again
Come back from California
All of us here in Florida
Are starved for your attention
Also, I mentioned Patrick Stump singing
Let's Get It On to
grammar_glamour a while ago. So. Here's that.
And now a game of what song is stuck like krazy glue in my head. I refuse to admit that I like it. I REFUSE.
You're from a small town
You're gonna grow up fast
underneath these lights
Down in Hollywood
on the boulevard
The dead come back to life
My goal here, with this anonymous song, is partly to earworm
cantspell. I DID IT BEFORE. :D
